Mk2 makeover to mk1??

  1. #1
    just a question of interest.

is it possible in any way to modify the mark 2 saxo vtr/vts to look like the mark 1 from the front? e.g changing the mk2 lights back to mark1?

    anyone done it?

    thanks
  2. #2
you would need the wings bonnet/grill and lights i think
  3. #3
Yes its possible, but why oh why...?

    The mk2 looks better anyway

noticed you have quite a lot of mods on that vtr there.

whats the throttle response like now from when it was standard?
as i havent done any engine mods yet and mine still feels nice.

Well it does definitely rev a lot free'er and its definitley quicker 0 to 60 since doing the mods! The gain of my performance mods is probably equivalent to stripping it out, but as mine is already stripped out it made a big difference! Probably only 6-7 bhp though tbh. If that...

dont do it mk2 look way better
  12. #12
    Do it.

    Mark 1 ftw!
  13. #13
nooooooooo! dont do it! mk2 look fkn ace.
you would just be dissapointed with the result, and it would de-value ur car.
    just my opinion tho
  14. #14
yes , lets make the car look older ... lol
  15. #15
y would you want 2 1 just buy a mrk 1 instead of the cost lmfao

cz mk1 front end looks much better, non of these girly curvs
  17. #17
mk1 looks more aggressive, the mk2 looks a bit girly from the front imo!!
    mk1 ftw!!!!
  18. #18
    id just buy a mk1

    mk1 front looks better imo
  19. #19
Mk1's looks like a real boys car, Mk2=girly eyes

mk2 looks better, and weve had these debates alot of the times tbh.

his initial question was can it be done, if it continues with a constant battle my padlock may get a pre xmas workout!

and dont be silly mk1 looks better

and it can be done, all you need is..

    Bonnet
    Wings
    Slam Pannel
    Grille
    Headlights
    Indicators

    thanks back on topic dude.

one thing to bear in mind is that mk1 is older so the paint condition/mix might not be the same as your car and might show up, ive seen this be the case.
  23. #23
regardless of what you think looks better, i think it would make sense to just sell your mk2 and get a mk1 if you really wanted to.. you'd probably make some money too

imo mk1 does look more "aggressive" but the mk2 looks like the more modern car

smoked headlights on the mk2 make it look a lot better imo

yeh iv seen a fair few mk1's rusting away, mine has some touches of rust on the wings, gona get that sorter in january while its off the road thought

but if you find a well looked after one with a blown engine or something, job would be a good'n

except that the car has been sprayed at a seperate time, and will have been exposed to more sun etc... and so has a high chance of not matching very well

    good point.

to be fair, if he wants a mk1 looking car, buy one.

must of liked the mk2 shape to buy it in the first place.

my personal prefrence is the mk1 look, but i do think some of the mk2s have been made to look real nice on here

    phase ones all the way!!!!
  28. #28
although if you did it you may be the first person to change a mk2 to a mk1
  29. #29
surely if you wanted to do all that work to change it would it not make more sense and change it to a pug 106 front end or something.
