MK1 Temperature gauge

Just wondering if anyone can help me with this one.

I used to have a MK2 Furio and my temperature gauge and it used to sit on middle mark on the temperature gauge, where as I've just bought myself another Saxo, but this time a MK1 VTR and the temperature gauge sits on the bottom line most of the time whilst driving, although was sitting earlier with the engine running and it started to creep up to the middle mark.

Is this normal or could it be the temperature gauge mis-reading??

sounds like it doesnt have a thermestat in it mate

iv had mine out all summer and when driving it was right at the bottom, and when sat it would creep up.

theres a black pipe that comes off the right hand side of the engine at the front, and goes to the radiator, take that off, and have a look

there should be a metal thing sitting in between the pipe and the engine, if not, go buy a thermestat, there about 5 quid tops, and slap it in

its a real simple job, just make sure the spring on it is facin into the engine.

and dont forget to fill your radiator back up

Ah right fair enough mate, weren't sure whether it would be misreading or not to be honest.

Yeah I know whereabouts it is, near the coolant sensor.
