    cheers tht sucks

You will need to remove the head to change the cam so therefore new headbolts and headgasket should be used..

You can do it on the car if you good enough

It can be done on the car, but is a pain and i've seen it messed up a couple of times by doing this. So I would say you will need new head gasket and bolts.

properly, head off, clean areas up, new seals, gasket, bolts etc..

best to do it properly first time

i thot you just take the belts off rocker cover off rockers out change the cams and build it back up? why would you need to take the head off to change the cams?

best to do it off the car to prevent fucking it up. and its a perfect opportunity to change the gasket and the headbolts.

most people when fitting a new camshaft also like to check the head is not warped at all. and so have it skimmed slightly.

sorry but if you say skimming heads is a good idea then i may have to shoot you in the face, thats the biggest myth amongst mechanics everytime you have the head off skim it

as i hope you allready no most heads have a natural curve to them and straigten when locked down

I hate skimmed heads for no reason, hence why my post says check that the head isnt warped at all. Myself i would have it checked to see if its all perfect before fitting it to do a proper job 1st time round.

many people skim heads all the time and constant skimming eventually makes the head un useable.

i dont see why you would have to have the head skimmed if the car is running perfectly fine before you change the cam. its just adding unessecary work. yes if the car is billowing white smoke. But i dont see the need to take the head off 2 change the cam

Do it right first time and replace everything, spend time on it now

No problems and more money spent on repairs later on

to get the cams out you need to take the headbolts out which realises the pinch on the gasket there for jsut makes sence to renew it instead of running the risk of it wepping
