Unlocked ECU relocking?

   HI,
   
   Im currently changing my 99 quicksilver engine to a 2001 VTR 1600. I have an unlocked ecu, am i right in thinking if i plug the ecu in and leave my transponder pluged in it will re lock the ECU?

   I believe it could.
   
   i have known of ECU's relocking themselves. happened to a friend of mine!
