Hiya, i've just had all my windows tinted, i've noticed though that on all the rear windows Citroen have faded out their own tint with little black dots, and though the tint i've had put on covers the dots, the tint hasn't fully bound to the window over these dots, looking from the exterior it looks like there's a big line all the way around my windows that the tint isn't covering... I was told that this would sort itself out over a couple of weeks, and I could use my finger to press it on but does this work?
Rear window tints, not covering black dots....Help

#2the bloke who done my windows put pritt stick glue on them dots and it don't happen neither does that line. cos i had that on my old tints till he redid it.
-
#3it ll stay like that mate, rub all the way round the windows for e few days til they dry out and start til stick properly it ll help a little but doesna really make that much difference.
-
#4happend on everyones i know mate.
-
#5sorry to change the subject but didnt see the point in starting a new thread...
what does everyone think of tints? im considering it but am really not sure btw would be getting in done professionally and not the D.I.Y kit from halfrauds -
#6spend the money and get it done by a pro, dez.i ve seen some people try and do it DIY and make an arse of it.
-
#7yea its the old saying if your going to do it might aswel do it properly! would def get professionals i do think it looks smart ... does it effect insurance much?
-
#8na til be honest wi ya but i ve got years o no claims
i think it looks smart if the whole car is done but apparently illegal to have your front drop windows tinted but i ve no had any hassle from the filth when i ve been stopped
-
#9get the hairdrier out mate works a treat!
-
#10just heat the edge of the tint not too much tho and use a credit card to push the tint onto the dots
-
#11Thanks everyone!! I'll give the hairdryer and credit card a go... The heat makes sense as they used some sort of heat gun to bind the tint to the windows (well... Debit card as the credit card has been shredded, I can't be trusted with it!!) I'll let you know the outcome just in case anyone else has the same problem.
By the way, should I heat the outside or the inside? Don't want to mess the film up as it's only four days old!!
On a better note I changed my fuel cap today to a stainless steel one and because of some safety feature couldn't get the key out of the original cap!! Looked it up on here and there was a post showing how to do it.. Result!! -
#12Hi, thanks for the reply, so the glue thing, are you saying it worked? Problem with mine is that the tint has been on four days now so I don't reckon i'd get any glue down there now!! The guy who tinted it said if I keep pushing the tint onto the dots it'll sort it, hope so!! I'm gonna try the hairdryer and card trick though and see if that helps!!
-
#13i think you'd heat the inside, cant imaginea hair dryer would get hot enough til damage the film
-
#14heat the inside youl not be able to get enough heat into the tint from the outside. yea pros use heat gun but windows need to be out or you will melt your car lol and too much heat burns the tint and can possibly crack glass! trust me try it and youl see how easy it is!
-
#15yeah i had mine redone that when he used the pritt stick. the bloke did say who done mine he said no one else does it because he stumbled across it himself whilst testing methods but he is spreading the word among the tinting industry.
-
#16definalty dont heat it whilst its on the glass
-
#17i had mine done by a pro, he trains window tinters in the south of england. The sides are perfect but the back he said are a bugger, he heated them as much as possible but they wouldnt stay. I will be going to get the front tinted soon and he said he will make the back perfect to
-
#18with mine i had to run my fingers round te dot matrix bit everyday, it did the trick

but soon after i ripped them out
-
#19suppose if you got them dipped rather than had the film on it would combat this problem? I know some people don't think its as good but my mate had it on his pug 206 and it was spot on.
-
#20mine were film when i brought them and seemed to of bonded to the dots fine(no issues), i suppose its just a case of who does them.
i can recomend people but thats in the south east

#22Everybody has the same problem. With a little patience, just push them out gently and they will get better.
-
#23I've been sort of rubbing my finger over the dots with heat every now and again, I think I should have just left the near perfect line running around my windows now as It looks all uneven now cause some bits have stuck and others haven't! Oh well, not to worry! Still looks better than it did untinted!!
-
#24you used a hairdryer on it ate, do that then rub ya finger over it, it might make the glue tackyagain, it might not
-
#25i did mine myself and i cut it befor the bots then masked it of and sprade it with matt black then u got to pull of the maskin tape gentel befor paint dryes
