Show cage anyone? Pic request

  1. #1
im thinking of buying a show cage for my vts. one similar to this one :http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-ROLL-SHOW-...QQcmdZViewItem

can i see some pics of them fitted? plus how easy/hard is it to do? any advice? all help apreciated cheers.
  2. #2
Havent got any pics mate but im sure others will. Theyre well easy to fit though, just mount to the existing belt bolts.

Only problems are one most insurance companies will have a heart attack when you mention 'cage' even though it doesnt do anything if your into declaring stuff. And the other problem is that it doesnt do anything. If you crash it doesnt brace the car youve just got a big metal bar behind your head which could turn into shrapnel and cut a nice set of gills in your neck.

Cheers for your help mate. not cheers for the graphic description of the horrors of accidents

yeah my bad, these things are known for being wuite bad in accidents though apparently which is why a lot of people stay away
  5. #5
I am also seriously thinking aout getting one too, so this is a good thread
  6. #6

Thats one from most angles in my car

pretty simple to fit, i found it alot easier takin the pillar covers off where the front seatbelt are fastened, since you unbolt the front seatbelt anyway, seemed less of a squeeze in

Might get one to match my wheel trims with 'show' disc brakes behind them...

lol don't like the idea of them making a saxo even more unsafe!!

Fair enough mate, but you dont have to drive like a twat to crash. Personal preference and all that. I think they look good

doesnt exactly make a saxo unsafe does it lol, could say wide alloy wheels make a saxo unsafe, coz they put more tyre to the road, so can pic up a puncture easier, and cause a blow out.

i dont really see one shattering into shrapnal if you crash either, at most bend, but if the cars bent enough for that to hit you, roof must be coming in aswell

Now who's gone and left the bad rep anonymously for no reason at all.

Swear you can't have a joke these days without someone taking it the wrong way, yet if was some long standing member with 10,000 posts to my name i can guarantee nobody would have batted an eyelid.

Wasn't taking the "micky" as they put it - well actually, i was ... but thats the whole point, it was simply a joke! I was also pointing out that i don't like the idea of doing something that could potentially make a saxo unsafer.

5mins before Xmas Day, the day of good will... and someone has to put a shitter on a guy havin a joke... whats the world coming to.

there ok i have one but tbh there what there name is SHOW CAGE

for protection it does Sweet FA lol.
very light easy to put together dont expect to bring ur back seat up alot cos it stops the seat a bit and you have to pull a alot more to get it out and tbh after a while i can see it been an issue with the material/stitching threading/cracking on the seats.

dont get me wrong there cool but if its for show then get it but dont exepct street cred or watever it is you get at meets cruises for having one they aint nothing new lol.

would it get in the way of my seats then, do you think?
  27. #27
    they do and dont emma

people can sit in the car yeh but expect them to hit there heads now and again on the crossmember bar hahaha.

i found out when i changed my interior it all had to come out cage the lot.
then putting it back in had to put seats in first then the cage BUT then realized ahh can only go so far up with the lower bench part of hte back seat cos the cage gets in the way you have to wiggle the seat like hell and all a sudden the lil clips that hold the seat in let the seat go. if your only wanting to say look at somethign under the seat then this is a biatch cos u have to then put ur seat fulyl back in imagine doing that in say a multy story car park LOL. i had to do just that hahaha ppl thought i was stripping my car right there and then in the car park bahahaha.

all i was trying to find was a key that fell down the seat haha.

lol i know i dont care about the actual rep but leaving a comment without a name is gay. Hiding behind a screen ftw
  37. #37
imo there a pointless mod, waste of money spend the extra for a real one that is actually going to help you in the event of a roll etc

i also think a show cage can do more damage than good

  44. #44
mixed opion's on these from you guys.. i see what everyone is saying to.
as they say show cage and saftey cage i'm pretty confident it wont save your life but then if you dont intend on crashing to often should be fine..
IMO i think they look smart.... but each to there own
  45. #45
i think they look smart, im considering one, nice reply too suvvy lol
  46. #46
i've just purchased one from ebay, they allow you to make an offer. I put a first offer in of 69.99 & they came back saying 89.99 so i went in between the two & got mine for 79.99 + £25 postage.

Buy it now price is £99.99. Quite pleased with that!
  47. #47
ill be ordering one up in't new year, couldnt really give a toss bout other peoples opinions, if everyone agreed on everything then we'd all have the same car!!! merry xmas everyone anyway!!!

tbh i think they look quite smart if the rest of the car is along those lines, tho imo real cage's are where it's at.

  50. #50
I agree may as well spend your cash on something thats useful and looks good.

I admit the show ones look ok but they are advertising something they arnt roll cages are for track cars but a show cage in a leather trimmed car doesnt look right to me.
  51. #51
you say they are un safe but a lad on 106 owners crashed and it helped with the impact loads!! il get pics in min
  52. #52
i think that show cages look good but the real deal is so much better, depends what look your going for really. if i had the money i would by one as i think they look good. if you like them then get one if you dont then dont egt one
