Alloys

When buying alloys my uncle said to me for your saxo you will need lower profile tyres,
is this true and can anyone explain why? and would it do damage doing other wise

dont have to be low profile, but it depends how wide the alloys are, as the vtr wheels arnt all that wide, but most aftermarket ones are 195's which most ppl get 45/50 profile tyres on, this keeps the ride hight of the car about the same as with normal wheels and big profile tyres on.

so if i didnt get low profile tyres it would only effect the ride height?

and you would probably roll onto the sidewalls quite abit.

but whats the problem with low profile tyres, they dont cost anymore?

can get budget tyres for 35 quid fitted

also look alot better on the wheel, not sure of the biggest profile for 195's

your uncle probably means if you're getting a bigger than standard rim size you'll need to adjust the profile accordingly... he's correct - the same goes for any car when increasing the rim size unless you want it to make your speedo even more incorrect and possibly have the issue of the tyres rubbing.

with 185 wheels and 14" rims you need a 55 profile (vtr rims)

with 195 and 15" you need 45 profile (vts rims)

    16's run on a 40 profile i think

17's well... you shouldnt be puttin them on a saxo lol
