my Vtr

  1. #1
has just crept over 83 thousand miles now,

im unsure weather i shuould start modding the engine or not personally i think its a bit high,

what do you guys think ?
  2. #2
Would depend what mods you are planning to do!

    Airfilter, manifold, exhaust won't hurt!

If the engine has been looked after it could easily do another 100k!
    How old is the car?
  3. #3
    perfectly fine.

the stigma of anything over 30k being useless is rubbish
  4. #4
the car is an s reg, i was thinkin of cammin it and get re-mapped aswell as airrfilter manifold and exhaust,
  5. #5
Mines on 96k with a few more performance mods on the way mate

Keep going, it will improve the car as it can 'breathe' better and should help it to last longer
  6. #6
If it's been looked after well it should last for a while yet, some saxo's have done upto 130K on the same engine and are still going strong. A few breathing mods should be alright for it

Yeah as said there's no real truth in that anything over 30k 'is useless modding'... what about re-builds?

My VTS is still going strong and i dont see how anything that helps the car like a new exhaust system, manifold or cams etc will hurt as they can help to increase an engine's efficiency, lower temp etc?

i've seen the vtr engine on 146K and it runs like new still.

Keep her serviced, cheap bits like Oil filters and new engine oil every 3k or so

Spark plugs and other fluids regularly checked and topped up
Car should stay running well for a fair while...

Iv heard of TU engines hitting the big 200k
