  16. #16
    LOL hahahahahah

This is a pic of my sax with the halfraud bulbs in,

They look more White than blue tbh, and are good if you only want to see 10 foot infront! lol

Atleast they are not yellow halogen looking crap lol
  17. #17
They look a lot whiter and brighter than halogens but theres n way theyre 8000k . Not saying you lieing, saying the manufacturer is.
  18. #18
mate these are the halfrauds bulbs not my HID, my HID look worse than that!
  19. #19
serious? lol youve been done. They actually look well good for halogens. I paid 25 quid for the phillips bluevision and they werent that white
  20. #20
    I know i have LOL

I think the kit is possibly a 4300k kit not 8000k

    that thought just popped up??
  21. #21
yeah the 4300s are like the old school HIDs. LIke you see on the older audi estates where theyre blue in the distance but when your close they look yellow still.

Those are the 'Gen 1' HID systems, ones like mine are the 'Gen 2' apparently
  22. #22
yeah they Blue from some angels, well when i say blue theya rnt but you know what i mean, and LUMO Yellow everwhere else. im sick of the halogen look, looks wank, had to put Standard, yes standard bulbs in for MOT, looked horendous LOL
  23. #23
Youve got the same problem as me lol i hate halogen light it makes a car look so dated and cheap. My kit went a bit wrong for a while and i had to go back to halogens for a week, was horrible i felt ashamed to drive it
  24. #24
YUP, i even had to put standard sidelights in. SICKENING LOL

Dunno if you saw one of my threads about my headlights but HID's melt the lenses in angel eyes dont they! In the process of finding some1 to make me glass lenses so can put HID's through the projector!
  25. #25
Yeah i like the anegls but wont get some cus of that. Let me know how you get on and how much it costs you mate. would be very interested in that idea.

And yeah mine needed every exterior light on the car changing lol
  26. #26
I will let you know, a friend of my dads has the lights atm so he can have the original lense as a template. If they turn out ok i'll see if he can make some more.

Then i can post some out or if your at any shows anytime soon ill pop em in my car.

    Touch wood they work!
  27. #27
yeah nice one. PM me when you know mate please. I havent got any angels or anything yet but id like to know if its an option for the future HIDs look een cooler through projectors
  28. #28
yes mate i will doo........ ill add ya to ma lil list of people who to contact LOL

You will be able to see better with 4300k light temperature. 4300k is day light and what our eyes have developed to see well in. All the really high hits are just for boy racers who want blue or even purple lights and don’t work that well. There worst when its misty, snowing or even raining as all the shorter wavelength lights just reflect strait back at you. Anything over 6000k and this becomes a very noticeable problem. Really even 4300k is to short for best light in these conditions. This is why race cars tend to use a almost yellow light.

Incidentally the Saxo was never type approved for HID light and are strictly speaking not legal to use any of these retrofit kits. At very least you absolutely must tell your insurer that you have fitted them than at least you will not get done for driving with out correct insurance.
  30. #30
If they are sooo bad y do merc's etc have 6/8000k kits in?

I know the Saxo's arnt typically designed for them as best in projectors coz they aim the light rather than reflect like in standard headlights, hence y i am modding angel eyes to suit!

i believe the new Rolls Royce has a 12k HID lighting system in it??

wasnt really any need to call us boy racers was there. And i think youll find most of the new gen HID kits on the upmarket cars are above 6000k and way above 4300k as theyre blue not white, the Gen 2 kits. Do you not drive a decatted car anyway?
  32. #32
At a guess it would be looks if they are. But I really hope there not going that high.

A lot of people just get annoyed at all these lights that just dazzle other drivers. Its almost along the lines of the people that drive about with there fog lights on. It does not really help them see any better bust just dazzles other drivers. Its also incidentally against the lore to do this in the same way it is to fit none legal lights to a road car.

Actually thats misinformed information. If you adjust the headlights properly and aim them properly theyre fine. Ive had a few people drive in front of me to check. And Ive driven past many police cars, been facing one at a junction and they had no issue and theyll pull you for anything in my area.

My view of the road on full beam down the back roads is much better now and thats gonna increase safety. Not one person has flashed me with tier lights yet either like you do when someones full beams are on.

As far as insurance goes, isnt your car decatted?
  36. #36
just wanna say all the hid kits are ILLEGAL i mean dont get me wrong i want some loll but to have hid kits legal they must be self leveling and have washers on them...
  37. #37
So are decats lol. The Hids improve my vision, and ive made sure they dont disturb other peoples vision. So i dont see who im harming.

Not going to be funny, but dont the new BMW Mini's have different bulbs in there rear lights? Mate works at Beemer in windsor and say they are dif! lol
  42. #42
Even if you have lights set exactly the same the higher temperature light will always dazzle more. Its down to the way your eye it self works. Its why the army and aircraft use very low temperature lighting. Shine a army issue map torch in your eye and you will be seeing fine again in a moment. But do the same thing with normal high temperature torch and it can take up to a minuet for your eyes to be back to normal. Its the same even when your in your car. If your looking at the night bright stop just in front of you and then look to the side of your cars and your eyes do not work very well. Give it a second and your eyes start to adjust. The higher the temperature of the light you were looking at the longer it takes your eyes to adjust. But don’t be fooled in to thinking light temperature has anything to do with how bright the light is.

As for is my car legal. Yes it has no car but its still legal and it has all the paperwork to prove it if I get pulled over. But more importantly every part that is deemed to be safety oriented is absolutely legal.

Fair enough. You can see my point though, no ones even flashed me and the pull-happy cops havent had a problem. And Ive adjusted them properly and got people to drive in front of my car to make sure theyre not dazzling so Ive done it responsibly.

How are you running an engine without a cat but in legal restricitions is it classed as a kitcar?
  45. #45
maybe too old for cat to be necessary think its 26 years lolllll
  46. #46
I do see your point. To be honest I have nothing against a well setup hid conversion. Its one of those many illegal mods that many people over look. Some times the police and MOT testers just let things fly and im glad they do. But still like to discourage it as it is not legal and there are a lot of people fitting them poorly.

The Cat was compulsory on post 92 cars but luckily you can do a bit of paperwork and get your cars emissions test swapped over to the year of engine in the car. So my car has a pre 92 engine. It also has a bit of paperwork so I don’t have to have any lights of any sort or reflectors on it. lol and its totally legal to drive on the road with no brake lights or indicators. How mad is that. But luckily its never used on the road.
  47. #47
I have heard bad reports on HID Kits but like ben says, as long as the are align properly etc, they are ok... I have seen some cars in my area with them and i agree they do look excessively bright when they are not alligned correctly!

But they are put on most recent cars so that must prove that they are more worthwhile than halogens etc
  48. #48
just wanna say yes police will turn a blind eye BUT be careful if you are a pain and they do pull you they will bring that up and anything else they want to lol will always find some thing tbh if they want to no matter how "legal" your car is
  49. #49
lol what the hell thats a regulation that needs to be sorted out. Fair enough though
  50. #50
Yup they will find something! lol Well, try and find something, and it'll probably totally irrelevant and a bit of standard equipment on the car LOL

When i wrote off my Punto, the police men where looking all round my car and were trying to do me for not having any backseats ! LOL

They look bright because the higher the temperature the light the more it damages your eye. You can have a lot brighter lower temperature light that will illuminate much more of the road and it will dazzle you less than a lower power higher temperature light. Just look at a yellow street light and the amount of light one of those kicks out. Yet you can quite happily look directly in to a street light. Then look at one of those small blue LED key fob light things. They shell out next to no light bit if you look directly in to it they will burn a blue dot in the back of your eye for ages.

I do see what your getting at mate, but if theya ligned correct and shizzzzle there shouldnt be much fuss. its just people that dont align and dazzle people that need to read this thread ! lol
