No Exhaust Pressure?

    OK ive noticed that my car has a lag after all the gears when accelerating. Its not a huge lag but its noticeable.

    What i did find was that the exhaust does not seem to push out much pressure. If i hold a rag over then end of it, i canot feel the pressure trying to push my hand away. It just seems to accept a rag being stuffed in the end of the pipe without trying to blow it out.

    I am guessing this is not right?

    Yer temp sticks on bout half way all the time. Idles like shit thou. Have changed the ICV and cleaned the throttle body and air inlet. When i start car, it idles at about 1200rpm for about 60 seconds then drops to 900ish. Sometimes when i stop at junctions, it sits idling at 600 but doesnt sound like its gonna stall, which is wierd.

    I can feel a tiny little bit of air coming out from between the manifold and the cat but its not whoosing out or anything, its barely noticeable. Nah exhaust is not blowing as far as im aware

    what saxo is it a mark 1 or 2 vtr or vts is the engine management light on

    As above, tis a furio and yes the engine management light is on......Diagnostic flagged up cat below efficiency (cat is almost new btw) and idle control valve which i replaced and made no difference.

    Im kinda having the same problem m8, there is abit of lag in mine now and then but the pressure it spot on? And there is no engine management lights on, any idea's on what it could be?

    Im thinking im gonna get my cat taken off and reattached to the manifold with a new gasket. Im then gonna replace the complete throttle body with a new one and a new throttle position sensor. I already have a fairly new idle control valve so will just put that in the new throttle body.

    Am hoping this will solve me issue, fingers crossed.

    maybe you have a whole somewhere in the exhaust system?

    Does your engine sound choppy? My mate had a similar problem cos he had a whole of rust just after the manifold. When he'd rag round a corner we'd think it was a motorbike.

    my exhaust system is brand new, as well as a service, still need to get it looked at if it continues!

    mmm, weird one that.

    Maybe the exhuast cam has slipped a tooth on the belt? just a thought.

    Wouldnt be surprised tbh mate. Cars a pain in the arse atm . Do you know if that can be fixed?

    Was the problem there before the new cat?

    Have seen it once in the past a new cat had been installed but it failed and was blocking the exhaust gases and reducing the car performance

    if the cat been changed and the lamba sensor have been taken out put back in they could be damaged just an idea mate ?

    No the problem wasnt there before the new cat thinking about it. Cant remember when it started exactly. Was around the time the cat was fitted but could just be a coincidence.

    Fitted the cat myself so may get the mechanic to take it off and refit with new manifold when it goes in for the MOT next week.
