why is it fucked? it could just be sticking.. have you tried rocking the car or even hitting it with a hammer? failing that bump start it...

if it fires up it shouldnt stick anymore for a while

If the car makes a fast grinding noise when trying to start, does this also mean its the starter motor on its way out??

    Sorry to hijack..

Sounds like a sticking starter motor, it's getting power but not firing.

Mine makes the grinding noise about twice a week... what can be done, apart from replace?

Does anyone have any photos showing where it is located?

get under the car and at the back of the engine bay ... it is mounted on the side of the gearbox.

I have an ignition problem with my saxo, I arrived at work, and found I could not swtich the car off, I found I could turn the the key and take it out with the car still running. The only way of switching it off was to stall it and disconnect the battery. It get it going I had to bump start it.

I was told that in the barrel there is a piece of plastic that has sheered off, and I would need to possibly get a replacement barrel. So far been quoted a stupidly high price for a new barrel. Do anyone have any solutions? Plus do anyone know where the location of the starter motor is on a 2000 W VTR model?

The starter motor is located at the back of the engine under the inlet manifold(PIA)to get too.
