Engine Problem

HI ive just bought a mk2 vtr with low mileage 44,000 miles and when i got it home on the drive. the car decides when its going to start, when it does start the revs are quite high, it seems to idle at 1250 revs, then its gets all jumpy will fall to about 500 revs and then shoot upto 2000 revs. i gave it a full service today, and cleaned the oxygen sensor.

Has any one else had any trouble like this, or can any one give me some advice??

i would give the throttle sensors a goood clean if its not that replace them could you tell me if the engine light is on i havent had this problem before but i know a few pepole that have

no the engine light isnt on. cheers for the advice i will have a look at that.... a few of ma mates hav said it could be the oxygen sensor or the coil pack but none of them have had experience with it

Idle control valve
or throttle sensor

if the engine light isnt on and the car isnt misfiring/cutting out completely than it probably wont be the coil pack

I had the same problem with my xsara vtr, had it on the diognostics at cit ended up to be the idele cont valve...

cheers for that think im gonna stick it in for a diognostics test a lad does it for 25 notes near me, hopefuly that will sort it out...
are these quite expensive then like the coil pack, Idle control valve
and throttle sensor??
