Overheated Engine?

   Hi all. Can anyone tell me what the signs of a previously overheated engine are please. Thankyou.

   Don't think you will be able to tell. If the heads warped and you havn't overheated it then that would be a sign but you wouldnt know without taking the head off...
   
   If its recently had a new radiator, themostat,water pump etc then that could be an indication...

   Overheating can often result in a blown head gasket/warped head, as said.

   A garage might be able to tell by checking the emissions or maybe a dye test on the cooling system to check for pervous overheating damage.

   look at the oil. remove your engine oil filter cap and look for excessive thick black sludge which will help indicate whether the oil has been allowed to overheat and degrade.
