i have a mk2 vtr 03 model which has the power steering pump at the bottom.
i am gettin my car lowered 50mm all round on monday..would the powersterring pump be a worry with it being low and prone to catch?

I dont think its a problem its the Power Steering pipe that you need to worry about! Theres a guide on the How-to's that show you how! Might be for premium members only though!

is the pipe a worry on all vtr's or is it certain years? because some are at the top and some are at the bottom

the pump itself isn't a problem, it's the pipe behind the inlet manifold that potentially can rub through causing a loss of power steering - it just needs to be bent out of the way so it doesn't rub on the steering arm iirc.

is it a defo that it needs to be bent? or is it just get it lowered and see what its like? also is it easy to locate? i wudnt no where to find it

i think the pipe will definately have to be moved, i wouldnt risk trying it and seeing if it catches, better to just do it first time round

only on mk2's tho i believe

what do i use to bend it? and is it just near the steering rack?

im not sure how hard it is to bend i dont think its too bad at all

what you could do is get it lowered and just keep checking on it and see if it gets any wear on it, its got some black kinda material protection on it so see if you get any rubbing against that, if you do then bend it back, if not then you should have no problems with it, but just worth keeping tabs on it

have a search see if you can find a picture of it, as i cant quite remember where you check for it

i would just lower it and see what happens. i could a different shap PAS pipe from another saxo at teh breakers, better than bending pipes imo.

i've got mine lowered 60mm all round and i've not had any probs regarding the power steering pump but the pipe was rubbing against the track rods so i just cut a piece of wood into a wedge put it between the too and turned the steering wheel from lock to lock a couple of times till it had enough clearance
