removing 16v lump and transmission

  1. #1
I'm currently going through a new engine transplant. iv undone all the pipes and sensors from the old 16v lump but im not sure if i have to disconnect the power steering or where from, or is this okay to still be connected and wont get in the way?

the new 16v lump is sitting in the garage, do i unbolt the transmission from the old engine then remove from the car first or shall i just drop it all together?

then do i bolt it to the new lump before putting into the bay or bolt it in afterthe lump is in?

    Cheers Nik

I don't think the power steering needs to be disconnected iirc. just be careful with the pipes and the pump but should be okay.

I'm going to support the engine with an engine crane, and take the gearbox out in the car. This should give more room for removing the engine out of the top of the car, then just do the opposite when putting the engine back in.

so your going to undo all the mounts whilst the engine is supported with the engine crane. and then just unbolt the transmission. will you keep the gearbox mount bolted in then, and just lift the block out the way?
