What does a k and n open cone actually sound like?

   On a 1.1 with standard exhaust. Is it noticible? Could someone please try and describe the sound for me?

   Gash without some other mods like a better exhaust system...
   
   Changing that backbox for a more parpy item will give off a bit more sound but please dont go for the old' 4" jap slash cut item...Get an enclosed mate and just go for a new centre section and manifold when you can
   
   Piper or Scorpion inwardly rolled 3.5" will be spot on and then you can just get the
   rest of the system after

   Thanks. Was planning on getting the 3" ashley as there isnt much choice for 1.1s. But you havent really answered the question lol.

   had a piper x on mine, they sit at the back of tthe bay
   
   they sound nice but really do suck, gave the car a flat spot, it was really bad
   
   i wouldnt bother unless you get it located at the front of the bay

   As said though, the standard air box cleaned up with just the panel replaced for a more free flowing green filter will give better and cheaper results
   
   To get more noise a new can is the quickest option and you can build on it
   Wouldnt touch K&N filters now even though my first Zetec mod was a RamAir filter

   It will give it a nice roar when you accelerate hard. I took off the air feed to the standard airbox on my car recently and it makes a schweet sound With open filter you will definately notice the extra noise

   The pipercross are abit louder than the K&N's.They wont make much of a gain if any,but it will give it abit of a roar when you put your foot down.

   Deeper noise and a bit more roar yeah but its not doing anything for performance despite huge claims...

    If you say the word "whoare" very slowly, with an emphasis on the "H", it sounds exactly like that!
