Kent or piper cams

Hi.Which is better for power gains, kent or piper cams?

How much bhp will i gain if i up rate my cams? got an enclosed induction kit, and full powerflow n decat at the momoment, but it aint fast enough.

Also would anyone be able to tell me wot mods would i need on my vtr, to beat a vts?

well it all depends what u have them with?it says an this is for both that u should see 10bhp but i dont know how true that is?

to get it up to vts standard u will need.. full exhaust system with de-cat,manifold,cams,enclosed air filter,dastek/re-map! that should see good 20+ increase in bhp!

my mate has a mk2 vtr with the following, full powerflow system with de-cat,gmc manifold, enclosed air filter, fast road cams(piper),flowed head, polish n ported and an ecu re-map! he's had it rolling roaded at 133 bhp!

cheers for that. how much do you think i should be paying for fitting the cams?

hope it aint gonna be to expensive!!!!

all depends where u go! u can do em urself if confident enough! the best thing would be 2 get some quotes! i have mk1 saxo piper fast road cams for sale! for the silver top mk1! £160!

mines silver top mk2. Would they fit a mk2 2001 vtr?

dont forget the manifold, you should gain as much as you did from that as you would a full system and decat

How do you mean beat a vts... from the lights so to speak or top end speed!? Id suggest, piper cams for long term benifits although u gain approx 1bhp with kent over piper... also get 4-1 manifold, remap also as obove, think about how fast you can get the power down tho... fast road clutch... lighten&balance fly wheel... power boost valve.. not sure if you can fit those to your car tho! Hmm... lighten the car also.... gear box also if you got the ££...

one person who did it was jay on ssc, his (from memory) was enclosed induction, maifold, decat system, cam and remap and head work, this took him to around 130 at the fly if i remember right and he beat a vts down the quarter mile

surely to beat a vts you just need more torque than the vts... & b abke to put it down well....
  10. #10
the vtr doesnt have much less torque from what i remember its where the two of them make it thats the killer.
  11. #11
i c, ive eaten a few vts since ive had my gbox & clutch in... that is only fron the lights tho!
  12. #12
the vtr makes most of its torque low down so its not uncommon to have a vtr edge ahead a vts off the line for a bit, then the vts starts to come on cam when the vtr is dying on its arse high up the range and then... well we all know
  13. #13
yeah the vts does rev higher then the vtr! ive noticed that with the vts it really kicks out around 3000-3500 rpm!!!

ill agree with scott there.....ive had a few traffic light races (within the speed limit of course!!!) with Gavo_vtr he seems a lot quicker off the line than me but as soon as the MAGICAL 4000rpm are hit its good bye and thanks for turning up!

lol @ dico! love it when it kicks in 3500-4000rpm mark!

Mmmmmm 4000 rpm! It's what the VTS is all about!

has any vts boys had 140mph with engine mods
  18. #18
yes simo has had a proven 141mph. 140mph is out of reach really without some drastic mods
