on a standard mk1 saxo vts, at what RPM does the rev limiter cut in? i`ve not had it long and the guy i brought it off didnt say alot about it. anyway my rev limiter on my vts cuts in just over 7800rpm, is this standard or has it had something upgraded? cheers
On a mk1 saxo vts when does the rev limiter cut in?

#2standard is about 7200rpm iirc cant really remember been that long since i drove mine. Yours has had its limiter raised, possibly for cams, cant think of any other reason, dont think it would be any good if it was just a standard engine and raised to that
-
#3as this is my first vts i dont know what there like anyway but i think a dyno test should show if there has been any tuning mods. i was out the other day on a dual carrige way even in 5th from 80 it seems quite quick up to 135 and went past a audi a4 tdi who`d floored it front of me when he saw me in his mirror and i felt like it had a bit more go still to come, so was bloody impressed with that. cheers yates
-
#4becareful what you say on here, some members will set you on fire for saying about flooring it on a dual carridge way.
do you know of anyone with a vts? good way would be to have a drive of it and see what that feels like, althought with the revs raised i suspect it does have cams -
#5cheers bud i did think it was a bit much, ((i dont want to infuence this in any way)) for other members watching this. I`ve posted a message on wierd idle on the problems section, i dont know what you make of it? if its maybe to do with engine mods which at this time im unaware of? cheers yates

#6i had a look but no idea to be honest mate, i dont know a huge amount, idling funny could be to do with cams after a remap, but then i couldnt say why its acting funny the way you have said it is
watch out for members coming up behind you with there keyboard -
#7what you mean by watch out for other members coming up behind you with there keyboard??
-
#8keyboard warriors shout there mouth off on here but say nothing in public
-
#11Yeah, mine goes way over 7200rpm too, cuts in about the same.... Not sure about cams tho, as u aint no faster then me...
ha ha Unless that means mine has cams too, which is very doubtful
-
#12If you have had performance cams fitted then the car will idle a bit rough the profiles of the cams are different don`t forget m8

#13think im definetly going to get it on a rolling road just to what the bhp is but as this is my first vts, i dont know what there like standard. either way was well impressed on the acceleration of these vts`s. cheers
-
#14so is the redline higher on mk2 vts's ? ? ?
-
#15dont know as mines a mk1 vts.
-
#17just like the speedo, the rev count is out as well, all standard vts's rev past 7250, on the clock.
-
#18i think im smelling some think abit STINKY (SNIFF SNIFF) definately the brown stuff. so your saying all vts`s are out on speedo and rev counter ?????? did you get all your mechanical knowledge out of a christmas cracker !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
#19why do you need to put loads of ????????? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 1 is enough.
-
#20are you for real or is this a joke? Most of your posts seem to be utter crap or some what of down grading comments
-
#21for real so your agreeing that vts`s are out on the speedo and rev counter too? do you know of any other vts owners who have said the same thing? i wasnt asking about the speedo just about when the rev limiter cuts in, this is why i posted the thread. for helpful info.

#22around 7k standard mk1 vts
-
#24superchips raise mk1 vts rpm to 7800.
-
#26sound good so far but i think im still going to get the rolling road just so its there in black and white, as never superchipped any car ive owned. cheers all guys, will get it done and post read out. thanks for all info, been a load of help

#29keyboard war!!!!!!!!!!!

#301st of all, most cars speedos are out by about 10%, so they read a higher speed than actual speed. Also rev counters can be out aswell.
My vts goes to 7250, just like all other std vts', but i have been sensible to not hit it yet.
Just get a rr done and see your power. I doubt it has been cammed if the exhasut and induction are std still. -
#31you dont need to get it on the rollers to see if its been chipped. any superchip dealers or ecu 'flasher' will be able to tell you. RR run wont prove anything.
-
#32it has a piper x viper vfc enclosed induction with cold air feed and stainless steel catback system but going to change exhaust as its been repaired at some point, where it connects to the cat and its been pushed in and gummed (previous couldnt be bothered to fix), jus as well he didnt have it that long. would it effect how it would run by putting standard exhaust back on? cheers allQuote:1st of all, most cars speedos are out by about 10%, so they read a higher speed than actual speed.
