Headgasket??

  1. #1
i had my headgasket done on friday and now i have the car back. for some reason it doesnt feel as fast on the acceleration side of things. i dont know if its me that is not used to driving my car again as i didnt drive it for 2 days or if something else is wrong.

i took it steady for 100 miles or so before giving it some just to make sure it had sealed properly.

    any suggestions?

drive it steadily for about 300 miles then give it an oil change

I'd just take it easy, like said above, and should feel back to how it did, if not then maybe something wasn't put back quite right?

^^ my mate knows his stuff so i am sure its been done properly. going to leave it abit and see if it gets any better. if not its going back in

    Why take it easy??
Why give it an oil change?
its only a head gasket, not a rebuild or out.

    check coils, plug leads Etc.

as they are all moved about fair bit when doing a head gasket.

    timing also?
other then that i dont know

take it easy to allow the head to seal properly

naw no need to take it easy, it's sealed once its nice and torque'd down.

sounds like you've got a cone filter on?

i think you may have an air leak on the inlet side of things

sounds like timing ent spot on or also do a compression test to make sure the cylinders are all holding ok

^^ might take it back and tell him to do the timming again.

    Check timing,

Does sound like the timing might be out by a tooth, its an easy mistake to make.

totally agree, theres no need to 'run it in' as such as there no mving parts been replaced that need bedding in. All i would do is recheck the headbolts are torqued properly after 500miles. Should be able to give it full beans straight away!. Most likely got the timing out as has been said.
