#4sure its not just knackered handbrake cable/s.
Does it not work very well, r even when driving, do the rear brakes not work very well? -
#5they do work.its just that i can notice when im parked up a slight hill i have to pull the handbrake fully so that it won't roll down.n i'm talking about the slightet hill not a massive hill.and when i pull it up fully it feels as if it is't healthy for the handbrake to be pulled up that much?

#6Stretched the cables or fucked the drums.
Either or , not a bad job to do with the right tools and a haynes manual. -
#7Fuck me just answer the man!!
Remove rear wheels and in the middle of the drum you will see a large silver cap.
Pop it off but dont butcher it remember its gotta get back on there!
Behind that there is a 32mm nut+washer, undo that with an air gun or breaker bar with a fuck off piece of bar on the end of it.
Then tap the drum off from behind.
Thats it.
As for adjusting the handbrake climb under the car/put on ramp.
Just above the middle section of the exhaust where the rear h.brake cables meet together you will see a y shaped pulley.
SO get a deep 13mm socket and ratchet and tighten it up, spray with wd40 if tight and hey presto, back to your h.brake turns!
any probs?

marcfells123@hotmail.comyes it is. as for adjusting handbrake don't bother with the under floor adjuster now you have the drums off adjust at that end.Quote:Is this the same for mk2 1.1 for the drum removal already tightend my handbrake cause i got the same problems lol, Hanbrake turns takin there toll on my drums LOL
you will see oposite the handbrake leaver in the shoes a ratcher mechanism on that side near the wheel cylinder stick a flat headed screw driver between the shoe and the cylinder and push GENTLY and the mechanism will click let it click around twice. -
#12You shouldnt need to adjust the handbrake at the cables, you need to make sure they are adjusted properlly in the drum first.
-
#13just make sure u got on axle stands nd front wheels chocked nd handbrake off to take drums off if handbrake on the drums wont come off
