#2cant see why it wouldnt be
-
#3fine mate. my cars have always got through without them
Alot of new cars these days dont have door pins either. -
#4As above, perfectly fine, passes MOT's without them and best of all it will help a fair bit with your cars security
-
#5lol i bet ill get some horrible mot guy and he'll be like oh no unacceptable fail.
-
#6it's surely better for the car without them
-
#7nah mate it wont matter how much of a ballbag he is. my 206 doesnt have them. she passes every time
-
#8anyone else opinions on the legality of depinning ?
or
-
#9dont see that it would be a problem, aslong as the door opens, closes and locks ok it wont be a problem...
-
#10hope they are legal, helped depinning my sisters saxo today!
-
#11they are legal
-
#12yep nothing said about them being illegal anywhere
-
#13depinnig/ delocking is fine its de handling thats illegal
-
#14Is depinning an easy thing to do? Sorry to hi-jack the thread mate
-
#16Does it hinder the central locking or an alarm from working?
-
#18But how does the door lock properly without the pins? I have a Clifford Concept 650 alarm. Can you garanutee that this would not cause a problem with the alarm?
-
#19some people say that you need a means of escaping from the car in an emergency, some testers or cops might argue the point, if so then buy an emergency hammer that you can use to break glass
i very much doubt you will fail an mot or have any problems, ive never heard any stories of this happening
-
#20Pred, your a man of the world. How does de-pinning work with the alarm. Is it just a case of remove them pins and the alarm still functions as normal. Can I still use the central locking etc?Quote:some people say that you need a means of escaping from the car in an emergency, some testers or cops might argue the point, if so then buy an emergency hammer that you can use to break glass

#21mine still works, if the car is started when you lock the doors the alarm wont arm itself but if the keys are out or just pushed in and pressed it will arm itself
-
#22but can i still unlock the doors with my remote or not?
-
#23yeah mate course you can

its got nothing to do with the central locking, well it has as its connected to the actuator/solenoid thing but your removing the doorpin, can stil lock the car with remote on the inside, key and remote on the outside
-
#24Here we go
http://www.saxperience.com/mods/show...e.php?artid=31
Not illegal and very very sensible
After this get a much better alarm like a clifford or toad to beef things up a bit
-
#25So it actually makes no difference in terms of what the alarm can do, but makes the car safer? Correct?
-
#27yes its more for people who break the glass and pull the pin up, or pop the lock (which is very easy on a saxo) and then pull the pin up, thats what happend to mine anyway
-
#28If you had pins left in i could break into your car easily in under 20/30 secondsQuote:yes its more for people who break the glass and pull the pin up, or pop the lock (which is very easy on a saxo) and then pull the pin up, thats what happend to mine anyway
Not going to say how but its a pretty obvious method...
Dont waste your time/money and worst off all let your hard work go to waste
Beefinf up security is the first place to go then move onto ICE etc
-
#29Thats what happened to mine, screw driver by the lock, and then popped the pin. I think I may do this. Any ideas whats the best thing to seal the holes afterwards?
-
#30yeah i know a trick of doing it, never tryed it but supposed to work but wont discuss that here

as red has said, nothing better than getting yourself a cat1 alarm, and even delock the doors if you can afford i -
#31Body filler like Isopon to smooth it completely or a cheap rubber plug from Halfrauds
Cost less than a quid
-
#32Got a cat1 alarm and it delocked. So now I'll just remove the pins I think. Thanks for the help guys. Repped both of youQuote:yeah i knotrick of doing it, never tryed it bt suposed to work but wont discuss that here

Sorry Pred, would let me rep you -
#33any mot testers here?
-
#34mine passed ok last week
-
#35100% legal.. i have a mate whose MOT bloke and he said "corse its legal, some new cars arent made with pins"
And no it does not affect the central locking or alarm system. -
#36how many times you want to be told that its fine?! LOL
