hi peeps i have a mk 1 1.1 and am wondering wot things i can do to boost performance i already have a exhaust and am wondering if ther are any other things other than air filter plz help thankz

To be honest, there is really no point doing more than exhaust and air filter on 1.1
Try stripping the car (as Mark, aka Greensaxo) has done, thus lightening the car = better power/weight ratio.

yeah as al has already pointed out not much point in doing much more to it!

only ways to get more power are either buy a vtr/vts/westcoast/furio or get an engine from either of these and convert it!

yeah change the engine and not tell insurance thats a smart idea, especially when you crash the car and the engineer points out that thats not the correct engine and your insurance is declared null and void, then your stuck with a fucked car no insurance and GOD help you if you hit someone else

i got da same car. trust me u wont get much mroe power out of it if u try anything else. u cud de-cat it but that might not increase da power. also strip out ur sound system n dnt carry anoy1 around, da 1.1i engine can't handle passengers even tho they do give it a lowered look

sell it & buy a vtr/s....? or put another 1.1 engine in the boot, make it 4wd... you could use No2.... lots of options open to you!! if your not going to tell mr insurance man/woman! y not just not call him/her!!!

kk thatnks for the advies peeps (soz bout wot happened 2 u westy) wot about upgrading the ecu as have heard you can bput a furio 1 in to a 1.1 any 1 know if this is true?

unless ur willing to buy a good quality performance ecu there sint much point in buying an ecu. the standard ecu's wont neccesrily increase the power but they will increase ur fuel consumption. i payed £85 for a remap of my standard ecu and it increased the hp by 5.not much but every lil helps i guess. mind u my bro managed to get an extra 23hp to his civic wid an ecu from japan?jus depends whihc ecu u get n how much u willin to pay for it.

it's pointless tuning a 1.1 coz you're never gonna get even vtr power without spending shitloads of money. best to accumulate a year or two's no-claims bonus, then put in a 1.4 or vtr engine. ALWAYS inform your insurance company of any mods, coz like Scott says, if you crash or god forbid you hit someone, you're fcuked, and you'll most likely face prosecution.

where 2 did u get your ecu mapped from as an extra 5bhp sounds good 2 me also wots the fastest youve had out of your 1.1? i had 105mph then had 2 slow down lol

my freind dun it for me at a garage just round the corner from my house. tops peed so far is 108mph n it cudnt go anymore,felt scared to hold it at dat speed for long so i slowed down to legal limit

ive got a K&N 57i induction kit with a full exhaust system 5 1/2 jap and my car sounds very very nice and its faster than a standard definately.

i dnt fink its sellable cuz theres a crack at the top of it which is another reason why i need a new induction kit. i accidently dropped it while running to get my phone.(i was gona clean it out, i wasnt jus running with the air filter in my hands for fun)

why does everyone say jus get a bigger engine car. dnt u lto know sum ov us jus cnt afford da fukin insurance these days. especially when da cheapest i been quoataed for a vtr was £37500 n dta was on ym dads name wid full claims.

nah i fink im jus ogna throw the airfilter away,i wudnt wana sell it 2 sum1 else, too much hassle for sumtin dat dnt even work properly.
