I'm thinking of fitting a turbo to my 1999 VTR was just wandering what's needed and how hard a job is it to do?

Its not as easy as slapping a turbo on.

i hope you have alot of time and money mate!

    Your gona need:

    Turbo
    Intercooler
    boostpipes
    Manifold
    Managment..standalone or MF2

    amongst alot of other bits.

have a search for some more info!

A very basic kit with minimal gains in power would be.

    Small turbo charger
    Turbo oil feed
    Turbo oil feed T
    Turbo drain
    Modified sump
    Adapter for manifold
    Down pipe
    Map sensor
    Intercooler
    Boost pipe
    Air filter
    Engine breather
    Remap
    Oil cooler take off plate
    Oil cooler
    2mm repair head gasket
    Head bolts
    Cam belt
    Cam belt fitting kit
    Head gasket set
    Sump sealant
    Some good oil
    Coolant
    Low temp plugs

That will see off a VTS and be reliable but really you want to spend a lot more than that.

if you've gotta ask then you cant do it yourself, as the saying goes

for a decent, setup with decent power, it will cost you.
you need to ensure that all of the parts are of good quality and capable of the power you want.

if you are going for high boost you will need low comp forged pistons and rods which are over a grand just there.

then the thing needs setting up by a pro, another 500 with out even buying a turbo, manifold etc etc

like mr williams said, if you dont know much about it now, it will cost you quite a bit to get a pro to do it for you.

if you spend time and look into the idea, learn as much as you can from it. then you maybe able to save a small amount on labour etc

for a basic setup, your probs looking up to 4.5 5k all in.

but you will always want more powr, so you need to llok into what you want. you dont want to be forking out to uprate new expensive parts when they are on the limit.

learn how a turbo engine works 1st, then you'll work out what needs to be done to get your saxo running BOOST. go for loads of power first time round though, saves doing it twice
