has anyone heard of de-cating an mk2 vtr without getting new manifold.powerflow r going to do it for me.just to get them a manifold to flange gasket.

they will prob use your original MK2 manifold, cut out the CAT from it , and weld in a pipe I would've thought.

they told me thy will make it up so i keep the cat so l can put it back for mot.any idea how much de-cat and full system will give me as a gain.

they may cut the CAT out and say
"we can weld it back in for you when your MOT comes around"
as thats what they did for me , with my cat under car.

Full system and decat.. 4 - 5 bhp probs.
Change manifold aswell, and could double that.

personally I wouldn't believe a word from Powerflow, majority of them are a set of cowboys, no doubt they'll do another bodge job.

I would get a stainless manifold as well as the system. Come MOT time you may be able to find a garage that will look the other way. Or you never know, it might pass emmisions.

Can you change the fuel mixture the sax so that the emmisions are less??

    Just for MOT time.

edit> Or you could change back to the original manifold once a year. Bit more work though

im getting it done at rms prestwick, not heard any bad reports.will get manifold once i have enough money.getting alloys first.

i have had mine cut out and made so it can be bolted back for an mot. it has made a big difference in sound and the revs dont drop as much when you change gear.

Stupid question but I have to ask:
    What is manifold?
I have to translate it from English to Croatian but I cant find it in dictionary.
    Please help

A manifold is the 4 steel tubes coming of the head of the engine.
When you look at the engine, it is right infront of you, under the manifold cover.

Ive spoke to a company near where i live about this, he said they could replace my manifold with either a stainless 1 or an original mk1 manifold. Then fabricate the exhaust system so that you can take a section out and effectivly replace it come mot time if need be.
