Raceland Induction Kit...

  1. #1
    As Above.

Basically, Does this come with the carbon look cover for the top and the bottom?

Ie the scoop bit that goes above the radiator..

Is this just for looks at the top, and the filter's exposed on the bottom, or is there a bottom one aswell?

Anyone have any pics of what you get?

    Hope this makes sense..

    Just the person actually...

Any reason its not on the Sax-P Discount Site?
And any reason the GTi and 16v ones are cheaper than the 8v ones? lol...

    Cheers

Oh yeah, and where does the end sit?
Just above the radiator? - Surely you'd get hot air from the radiator in?

    Cheers

    really recommend this mate

especially the green upgrade, its mint.

HOWEVER: its abit fiddly, and you need some additional bolts/nuts to make it sit a treat. Took me and my dad about 2 hours.

EDIT: Pics in my progress thread if your interested http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=112253

theres only one variant now for both the 8v and 16v but we do two versions, one with the raceland filter and the better kit with a green filter included.

As for the discount i'll look into it - they already are very well priced!

here is a pic showing the parts in the kit

  11. #11
    Looks pretty straight forward then
    Hope it is! lol..
Car should be ready to rebuild next week some time, Can't wait to hear it with the Manifold and Induction Kit, and then with the Straight through after the MOT!
Will be so nervous driving it though after the crash!

Opened my kit this morning Kam, and the bag of bits are not in there? There 3 loose nuts and bolts in the box thats it?

Also, are there any particular lengths the pipe should be cut too? Does it have to be cut? Seems rather long?

Not tried to fit it, just opened the box and looked really.

    I would PM him matey
  14. #14
Sure there's a reasonable explanation mate, Drop him a PM no doubt he'll sort it
I better not have any problems Kam lol
  15. #15
Yeah ill PM him if i get no reply.

Not overly impressed with the quality of the kit, the end cover of the green filter fell off when i took it out of the box!

Like you say DavidKent, there probably a good explanation

    Hi Ross,
PM me you address and I'll get you a bag of screws out.

The Green filter was vacuum sealed in a wrapper so shouldn't have fallen apart with handling .

There is a silver end cap to the filter which is removable revealing the black plastic top to the filter. The filter oil can sometimes make it slippy so recommend if you want to leave it on to give it a wipe down before refitting. Personally I leave it off as I am a stickler for not having anything unnessesary on the car

As for fitting I would recommend lining up the enclosed casing and trial fitting the alloy pipe before cutting down the black tubing. Its supplied long so that it will fit VTR and VTS models where the TB is a differing length away from the alloy pipe

Quality of the components is as good as the green which requires the use of more parts out of the standard o/e induction and costs 50% more

hi first post woo, is the raceland induction of a similar volume to the standard airbox, or is it louder? i apreciate it wont be as loud as the open filters am i correct?
  18. #18
it is louder yes but only marginal, its all about gains tbh mate lol although the air from which it draws is not the most open space but the idea is there!

Have a read of that mate.
    http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87301
It probably makes nearly as much noise, but because its enclosed, It tends to prevent a lot more heat soak, meaning you tend to get constant cool / cold air, as opposed to less cool / cold air as the engine heats up, therefore gaining performance slightly.

If you don't mind about performance, but want sound - Buy a cheap open filter.
If you want more performance, and aren't so worried about sound, Get something Enclosed Like a BMC Fully enclosed or a Raceland as I've just ordered

Hope that helps a bit mate.
    David

i read through that post that is where i got the info i posted i searched i mind about sound but would prefer performance. another one... the green air one comes with a small filter the raceland oen doesnt do i need the small filter?
  21. #21
If you buy the cheaper raceland, it'll still be fine.
If you buy the raceland with a green its just an upgrade to a better filter basically...

The Small Filter is the Breather i believe.
Not really necessary, as you can connect it up to the kit anyway, but could do for visual, not sure on the performance aspect on breathers.
  22. #22
brilliant cheers fella, yer i was going to get the green one, but was nto sure what the small filter was needed for, i will order it now
  23. #23
