195/45/16 alloys problem Rep left.

I bought THESE alloys off ebay last week. Put them on last night and they seem to be rubbing at the front slightly & also catching the front bumper. Not just on full lock but when I turn it about a quarter round each way?. They came with spacers which I put on not sure of the size Here's a pic

The fella I bought them off said they came straight off his vts. And that he didn't have to do any arch work at all, here's a pic of his sax with them on.

Not sure what to do dont really want to start ripping my arches to bits and cutting of brackets?. Smaller spacers?. Any advice would be appreciated and repped if poss cheers.

Funny thing is when I was putting them on a bloke pulled up an said he had some 15" oz racing cronos for sale. He brought them down and they where in mint condition and he only wanted £100 for em so I bought them too

Only problem is the cronos are 15" 50's & after seeing a big pair of 16" 45's on my sax it's gonna pain me to swap em out. I'll post some pics later.

Not too sure why they are rubbing tbh. I have no rubbing with my 16's, but i am using 195/40/16 tyres.

Try turning the wheel when your in the car until it starts rubbing, then get out and see what the wheels are touching, it might just be a case of taking the arch liners out which is fairly simple. Or as said above you could buy some 195/40/16 tyres instead and see if they are any better

If it's not just the archliners the wheel is catching on, the best best is just to get some 40 profile tyres, as you should always try and keep the wheel diameter the same as standard. All decent alloy/tyre places would tell you the same. So for 16's on a saxo this is 40, not only does this solve the srubbing issue it also means your speedo will be more accurate

yeh lower profile tyres will do the job . if not get to work on inner arch modding its not to hard to do angle grinder etc etc only do it if your confident enought tho.

Cheers for the input will have a look now. Wont taking the wheel lining s out have any adverse effects?. I mean surely they are there for a reason?.
As for getting some 40's just paid £80 for two new 195/45/16's . If I cant sort it now might sell the 16's and put some 45's on the oz alloys.

yeh mate id say 40 profiles are the answer. i got 45 profile tyres on my 15" alloys and been lowered 40mm n they dont catch at all....also depends on lowering suspension and thn fitting bigger alloys! may be a problem....

if you want to run on 16 on 45 tyre youll have to have bumper bracket changed but if you put a 40 tyre on it will be fine

It's always been known for 16" tyres with a 45 profile to rub hence why people "should" go for the more expensive 40 profiles I had problem with my 16" alloys with 45's.

I don't know why they are rubbing when the wheels only turned a quarter.

I have 195/46/16 and mine fit nicely but rub on full lock slightly, lowered 40mm.

i had 16s and 45s on my 106, its lowered 60mm and the only thing it caught on were the arch linings and washer bottle??

i got 15"s and lowered 60mm no probs, going to 95mm soon though so will see what its like then ... 40 prof too

    15s are better anyway

i used to have 45 profile tyres on my 16's and to get it lowered without it rubbing i had to change the tyres to a 40 profile.

I have 195/45/16 and needed to get 3mm spacres to stop them rubbing on rear axel maybe because car was a flat arch tho.
