Removing window tints

Since the police seem to be hot on the subject of tints, I think it's best I remove mine.

I bought the car with them in so I have no idea how to remove them.

I've searched a few forums - no real answers to my questions (that I can find), just wondering if i need to remove the windows to remove the tints? I'm guessing I have to remove the rears, what about the fronts?

Can I just use a sharp blade and soapy water for the glue?

    Cheers guys

you don't have to remove the rear, its the front that need to go. They will pretty much to peel off, but to remove the sticky glue left over i'd use t-cut and rub that in to remove it

Yeah I know mate, but I wanna remove them all really, I don't think rear tinted cars look right tbh :-(

So I gotta remove the front window to get rid of the tints?

Pain in the arse job. As Baz said, peeling off the tint is easy. But the sticky glue crap left on the window is a right pain to get off!

can leave window in to do it.
    I did.
Rear windows are easy to take out. Just undo the 3 little torx screws (while someone holds the glass outside)

you won't have to remove front window but would be easier i supose. Bit of a farce of a job too.

You need to take doorcard off, stick your arm down the window and twist a clip to undo it from the runner, lift the window up then push towards the front to take off another clip near the door handle side. Then pull it out.

    Or roughly like that

I used Methylated sprits. Never thought of using t-cut, but that sounds like a good idea yeh.

    Done.

Took AGES, and I havn't even started my calipers yet. Gonna have to do them tomorrow.

Oh and by the way... HOT REALLY soapy water mixed with t-cut combined with really fine wire wool does the de-gluing well. I thought it might scratch the glass, but nope

Next job is to sand the primer on my alloys down for paint! Woo!
