2 Types of Coil Pack for VTR??

  1. #1
I've got a coil pack which i bought from Euro Car Parts a while ago, but it doesn't seem to fit properly.

The connectors & fixing points are fine, but the rubber "prongs" which sit on the top of the spark plugs don't seem right. The internal hole seems smaller than the one i've already got, meaning it's quite tight on the spark plug, and the springs inside them seem longer.

Any ideas people?? Want to fit a new coil pack but unsure if i've got the right type.

    Cheers

Can't you just remove the rubber bits from your original coil pack and put them on your new one, because they are removable.

They need to be tight anyway mate for it to do its job. the only 2 types of coil i know of is a black connector type and grey, most ive known are grey anyway. But if you dont like the rubber bits just swap them with yours they just pull off

I did think about giving that a go but wasn't sure.

What difference do the colour connectors make anyway? Found this a bit confusing when the bloke asked me which one it was.

I am not too sure what difference the colour connectors make? I know that mine is a grey connector on the coil pack on my 2001 vtr. Think they started using the grey connector coil packs from the year 2000 onwards, not 100% sure though.

    Mine is like this.

Yeah that's the same as mine, but it has a black connector. The new one has a grey connector but that seems to be the only difference.

Think i'll try the springs & rubber prongs off my original coil pack & see how it goes.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, As far as i know theres Rocker type coilpacks which use ht leads. The roller engines use the later type packs. But between these, iv notices theres a notch which stops you plugging them in. I can fit a multi plug ecu coilpack into my single plug car but wont let me plug the single ecu type into the multi due to a little notch in the plug. Now can i just cut the notch of or??

there are 2 types of coil packs 1 has a grey connector and one has a black you should try and match you coil pack to the correct connection
