boot button key hole thing..

   noticed some poeple have colour coded boot button things, (the bit u push in to open the boot) how would i go about this?
   
   do i jus cover the area around it sand it down prime and spray + laquar or do you take the whole thing out?

   they unclip mate. get a small flatbladed screwdriver under it, and careflly pop the little disc shaped cover off
