  1. #1
hi, i have spent the last hour searching across the forum and cant seem to find the answeres i want
i am looking for a backbox for my vtr mk2 and came cross the ashley i like it because its a sortof temp thing untill i feel like a full system,
im slighlty concerned about the noise levels, actually how loud is it i youtubed it and coudlnt really find a video....

is there much difference in volume/fitment between the 3" and 4" tailpipes.
I dont want it to be stupidly loud but dont mind a thumpy note....

    hope my description is ok

    thanks

Ashley are great. You can shut it up by keeping the revs under 2.5k ish but if you want it loud then keep the revs high ish!! lol You won't regret getting one if you do

    P.S I've got the 4"

    3inch for nice noise

4inch ones make your ears bleed

I have the 3" one. Its good, but wasnt loud enough for my liking. But it was still quite loud. It was very deep and it looked the dogs bollocks imo.

The size of the tail pipe has no effect on the sound what so ever.

Agree there might be a db in it between a 3" and a 4" but not that you could probally tell by ear, more so as all they do at the factory is but a bigger tailpipe on the same box.

Id go for the 3", that size seems to suit the saxos rear better than bigger tailpipes unless its a Jap style tailpipe rather than a rolled in or out tailpipe

    Definitely

My 3" ashley sat very nicely indeed. It stuck out about 2" and it was coming out at an angle!

It has adjustable brackets so you can get it to sit however you like.

I've got a 3" ashley cat back and it seems to be not too bad noise wise. As said above 2.5k mine gets really loud and feels like its deafening you. Especially when accelerating - but keep it under that and its not even noticeable. Very good exhausts in my opinion
