what can happen if i over fill the gearbox with oil i just had to change my engine and most of the gearbox oil went over the floor so i put 2 liters in the breather hole then went to cheak the level but my tool is just rounding the plug so i cant get it out untill i get a better tool next cuple days will it do any damage if over filled if so what?

are you replacing the gearbox oil or just topping it up?

i think if your replacing you should put in 2.5 litres according to my haynes manual but if your just topping it up you should squirt it in the filling plug until it starts coming back out. and then wait until it stops dripping out and thats the right level. put some sealant on the thread of the plug so you can reuse the copper washer such as loctite. dont get the filling and draining plugs mixed up though!

i would do that but as i have sed i dnt have the tool to undo the filling plug so i was asking if its bad to over fill the gearbox? thanks for the help

if your not sure drain it first. theres a plug thats lower than the filling so undo that and make sure you have something to catch the oil in. when thats drained put the plug back in and then you can get yourself 2.5 litres of new oil and put that in the filling plug!

you need square drive thats just under 8mm square. ask for a key that size from a partco or max factor probably get one there.
