hi people, iv just bought my first saxo. i like it, and its had ££££'s spent on it but it just aint fast enough for me. i was thinking of turbo charging it, but thought, would it be worth it??? has anyone turbo'd a vtr? would a vts conversion be cheaper for bigger bhp? please help me people! what would be easier to do? turbo my vtr lump, or do a vts conversion?

    vts conversion would be cheaper

people say the 20-30hp increase is very noticable, dont know myself as ive never driven a vts

Massive difference between vtr and vts, thing with a turbo is it's just asking for problems in my opinion! as the engines not built to have a turbo on it, the internals surely can't be stong enough?

covered many many times, vts conversion is not only cheaper but easier to do. As for the internals, the tu engine is stonger than many 2litre engines etc. If you have a well built and designed turbo system you wont have any problems

If you have 3 grand or so to do the proper turbo than i suggest vts conversion than cam it, so funky head work breather mods etc than looking at around 170bhp instead of 120bhp

ok, thanks for the help people. with the vts lump will it fit straight in? will i need different drive shafts, gearbox, loom etc??

£ for £ boosting your VTR is the bay way to go if your talking £ per Bhp. For example 3k will get you a tuned VTS engine fitted with around 150/170bhp. Or you could boost your VTR for the same cash and see even more power.

Not really that easy a fit a VTS in a VTR really. You have to have a full VTS engine with loom, management, transponder, key and all ancillaries.

ok thanks people, might keep the vtr lump and tweak it abit before i go down the turbo route, at least that way i can uprate everything so when i get a turbo at least it will be ( sort of ) reliable! lol thanks!
