polishing rocker cover

   ive never seen a vtr rocker cover just polished everyone seems to paint them. Is it possible to just polish it and spray it with some sort of laquer to protect it or would it still rust?

   you can't polish them, due to them being steel iirc
   
   paint unforunately is the only way

   ive started removing the paint and it looks really good just bare metal. could you not just put loads of laquer on it to protect it from rust?

   you would have to get heat resistant laquire tho?
   and it would most likly just bubble off
