central locking motor to open boot?

  1. #1
can this be done? a 'slave' motor with two wires. obviously depending which way you put the posotive and negative will make it open and close.

if i use it to pull the latch in the boot, how can i get it to go back down with out having a two way switch?

    cheers.

if you use a plunger switch mate it will only open when its activated if you get me so when you push in the switch it opens but wen u let go of the switch it closes if u get me n just find a way to stop it from closing on itself

yh, like a propper boot popper style. im just sure there must be a way with a relay or something.

I used one of these kits when I did mine.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ELECTRIC-BOOT-...QQcmdZViewItem

It only works (pulls) when there is power to it. As soon as the button is released the power stops and it goes back to the midddle position, allowing you to close the boot.

cheers, is it to do with the relay? any chance you could send me a copy of the wiring diagram? lol

    cheers

there exactly the same as you use for remote central locking, i brought a kit from ebay, hawk kit, they are basic, but very effective, i would send you the spare actuators, but with out the control box guessing there no good.

i know they are, i want the wiring diagram for the relay so i can get the motor to close back up.

I didn't use the relay on mine, only really need it if you are using your alarm to open the boot.

I just ran a fused live to the button on my dash, then a wire from the button to the positive on the motor and earthed the motor to the number plate lights earth.

Simon, is it hard to fit...? I have them same one, and it looks abit complicated...
  10. #10
Fairly easy to do, the worst bit is running the wire from the button to the motor, as you have to run it from the car and into the boot.

I'd be wiring it to my rear wiper switch, as my car is dewipered...

so does it pull back once you have no power going to it?
  13. #13
^^ Yes, only pulls when theres power

Mine pulls when theres no power, and then stays in that position once the pwer has been cut off... It won't close it. I have to actually push the lock down to make it secture, if you get me...?

so does it lock back up or do you have to push it back to lock it.
  16. #16
Yeah basically when you push the button the motor pulls on the boot catch and releases the boot then after you have finished in your boot shut it down as you would normally do, with your hand.

its a different type the other one, its like a central locking motor. i just want to know it if 'resets' its self in the position to unlock the boot again or if i manually have to pust it back.

    but cheers for the info

I did mine at the weekend using this kit, and have to manually push it back up...

    Haven't a clue... I'm hoping I've just wired it wrong, but I really don't think I have...
If I wire it using the grey wire, it pulls [opens]
If I wire it using another [can't remember which], then it pushes... I can't seem to get it to do both, only one or the other...

hmm, i will ask at work see if a relay will do it.

what about having it push against a spring so pit pushes it shut, or pull or a rubberband lol??

    Any luck with this mate?

i got one, is gay it wont go back.

but came this morning and i put an elastic band through the same hole as the rod, and tied near the base. and when the solenoid pushes it goes up and the elastic band pulls it back.

bodge ftw, but i will find another way

Good stuff... I'll give this a try a la weekend

i emailed the bloke, and he said if you align the solenoid right the lock mechanism will push it back into place to use again

and put vasaline on the band, so it wont crack and break.
