  1. #1
i have a saxo furio ok lets not with the sarky comments its my first car!
i am having troubles finding lowering kits i.e. spring and shocker but all i can find is for vtr/s. i have some 45mm lowering springs which i have cut a coil off! to get it lower but now have the problem of creeking and the shock absorbers need less travel? does anyone know where i can get a furio lowering kit or do the vtr/s kits fit aswell? Any help will be much appreciated!

the VTR lowering kit should fit.
if you can find a lowering kit for a westcoast that will be the same to mate.

im sure that all the saxo struts are the same tbh so most kits will fit.
you can buy 60mm lowering kits from companys like spax to save you cutting coils of the springs which i wouldnt really advise but still hope this helps mate.

well the springs you cut a coil off are now to be thrown in the bin immediatly !! death trap riding on springs with a coil cut off !

look at kam racing or ebay.

No, you are wrong. Will be the same kit supplied for all models unless the manufacturer changes them.

    Cutting springs is for retards.

Springs for a VTR will be fine. End of conversation, i'm not lying to you and nobody else is.

Also weren't lying about cutting the springs being unsafe etc. Get them off and order yourself some new springs ASAP or put the original ones back on.

iv bought some new springs from kan racing but just eibach 45-50mm hopefully it will drop it more than the last set of 45's i will be changing the dampers next week as well!

i meant kam racing* and i know but hopefully the new ones will come soon and i can get those health hazards off i knew they were unsafe but i dont think i even went over bout 40 on pretty straight roads. thanks for your help. ive spotted a few other things on the website, is it worth buyin an induction kit for a 1.4?? also my gears feel quite loose my friend who has a 02 vtr says his feels the same (i need to have it looked at i think it could be at the end of its days) i was wondering if a short shift kit would make any difference to that? and replies would be much appreciated

Many of the lowering kits on the market will use the same parts for all models, the difference being is that they'll state something like:

    Will lower a 1.1 30mm
    vtr 40mm
    vts upto 50mm
    etc

The main difference for cheaper springs will simply be the aspect of increased engine weight causing the suspension to sit lower.

Unless theyre specialist or really high quality springs there probably wont be any difference.

Eibach are arguably one of the best available for someone who just wants a simple drop in suspension without losing too much comfort, dont expect anything great performance wise when pushing it on a track etc though.

If i remember correctly Eibach do ones for 'upto 35mm' depending on the model or 'upto 50mm'

For a lower drop than that Spax 60mm ones might be the next best reasonably priced option.

    .................................................. .......

If your gears feel loose then look at things like the B&M quickshift which kamracing supply, and/or some xsport stainless steel gear linkages. These are both reasonably priced options which will help stiffen things up

No no no no!! I wouldn't even be driving the car if you have cut a coil. Your suspension will fail big time! Your asking for so much trouble mate. Believe me, I have a Spax full sus 60mm lowering kit, cost me £175 delivered. Great value imo. But seriously I can't emphasise how big a problem you will have after cutting the coil off your springs, don't drive it if i were you!
