Brakes stopped working!

   On my way home from droppin my sister of with my dad,
   
   
   
   
   i was approaching a tight left hand turn on a 50 mph road of which i was doing around 45, i come off the accelerator and onto the brakes only to find my pedal go right to the floor! i slowed the car down usng the handbrake and gears, i had near enuff come to a stop when suddenly the brakes started to work again!
   
   
   Any ideas what it could be,its too dark to look now so i will do so tommorrow.
   
   
   This is a serious matter so if any has any input it will be very much appreciated

   MAybe something like air in the system, could just need a good bleed. Have you had them changed recently??

   well i changed the pads back in october,apart from that i havnt touched them

   I know if the pedal just goes to the floor and there is no brakes there is usually a bit of air in them, not 100% sure if that's your problem as you said that they came back. Might be an idea to bleed them just to see if there is air in the system.

   Check for play in wheel bearings? Sounds like maybe pushing piston back in caliper?
