    search mate

but i would say raceland as lilsaxovts had very good results using this

supersprint to better quality tbh and probs same gains

gmc are really good but not many people have tested them but they are mild steel

First you need to learn about manifolds!!! Gmcmotorsport.co.uk is a very good and informative website. Herein it would explain that a 4-1 manifold from Raceland (their supplier) is more suited to the VTS as it give more power to the end of the rev range whereas 4-2-1 manifolds do the opposite and are more suitable for the vtr.

Sometimes it would be a benefit to get a manifold that comes with a full system exhaust as these are both built to specification for the engine and the exhaust.

As far as brands go Raceland has a decent reputation and seem to be the most popular on this site.

    Hope that helps

Raceland are cheep and cheeful mate!

it depends really, personally id get a 4-2-1 manifold as it gives more mid - higher performance wheras a 4-1 will give power in lower revs this is according to a thrad i have read be4, id gio by my 4-2-1 n e day tho

You got that the wrong way round, lol

All about costs mostly. I think GMC supply the BTB or Piper 4-1
Raceland only make a 4-2-1 and the same with Supersprint.

Best is a bit ambiguous.. all have their pro's and cons.

I've send RR graphics of the Raceland where it gained everywhere in the rev range.

If someone is going to ever get their car on a RR for a day let us know and we'll rock down with a manifold from Supersprint / Piper / Raceland / Maniflow for back to back tests

    kam its a deal

im up for that if u tell me where u wanna do the test ill come with my mk2 vtr with full piper mid steel and see the results

I do have to say the Raceland was good for the money, felt 'free' after fitting to my 1.4.

I have a Piper 4-1 on the VTS engine now, and the build quiality of it is superior to Raceland, just feels solid, and the diameter of tubes seems bigger, whether it's just thinker stainless I don't know.

Would love to see some back to back testing, I think the Raceland would put up a good show tbh !!

BTB always worked well for me.

Hear piper exhausts and manifold quality is unbeatable..
  13. #13
sorry to hijack the thread but wtf does BTB mean?
  14. #14

There a custom exhaust builder that specialise in one off professional motorsport systems. A PSA (Citroen/Peugeot) tuning company called GMC has worked with them for many years. GMC cars have won all sorts of events and often beat works teams. Anyhow to get back to the point GMC have swayed BTB to do small batches of exhaust for road cars and amateur tuners. So basically your getting pro quality part for GMC. I have used the normal GMC/BTB stock parts and have been very happy with them. Though my last car was a all out race car and I ended up getting a full custom system from BTB. It was quite frankly incredible the amount of power across the rev range it gave.

raceland seem to be very popular and good money, the quality obviously isnt as good as supersprint but when you compare the price you would go for the raceland. power gains are pretty much equal.

is it best to go for a heatwrapped manifold or not??
  19. #19
i would go for heatwrapped mate yeah stops engine getting hotter than it already is tbh
  20. #20
does heat wrapping the manifold change anything with the performance?
  21. #21
improves a little as it increased the velocity at which the exhuat gas passes through the manifold and also stops the oil and alternator boiling

the main job for the heat wrap mate is too keep the engine bay cooler so its easyier for your engine to run more efficent..

    correct me if im wrong.

    alternator boiling
sorry mate but not heard that one before how can a alternator boil ???
  24. #24
well if the engine isnt as hot... it means its sucking in more cold air.. so in a way yes

EDIT : hate it when you go to post and more posts pop up..
