  1. #1
    Hi all,

im in the process of putting a 16v engine in my 106 rallye. Can anyone tell me where the engine number is? Ive got a 10 digit number from the head, is that it or is that the part number for the head ?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Well ive had alook at it tonight and there is not a number on the front of the head, (there is one on the back but you could only read that with the engine out of the car )

The only number i could see was this one, is it correct, starts "SOF 7 ......" near dipstick side

i would imagine it too be on the block? As head can be changed, manufactuers normally pull the plaque on the block somewhere

I think the engine number is stamped on the front, just to the right of your picture.

    Look here:

    The second picture shows it.

Just might have to scratch it, like in the picture, to get the engine number accurately
