BMC filter?

  1. #1
    anybody got 1??

i've got 1 and have found it seems to be the most awkward thing in the world to fit

there is some kind of plastic reducer that sits on the top end of filter then goes into the induction hose, but it keeps coming out after the car receives a thrashing??

anybody got any ideas, or pics on how these are best fitted?

    thanks

Take the old OE airbox off - all of it including the big black hose that wraps around the back of the air intake. the two filters - one replaces the bog black hose. the other on the hose off of the rocker cover.... the rest is simple bolt thr filter in place put the air hooses on... job done!

Tis a bit of a bitch to fit, but just persevere.
Try different mounting points aswell to stop it from coming off.

so you get 2 filters?? the little dinky red thing that sits on the crank case pipe and the big black thing that replaces original airbox?

Which filter replaces big black hose??? i thought you would have kept that to attach inlet manifold to the BMC filter?
  11. #11
also, i cant seem to notice any noise coming from it?

    any ideas?
  12. #12
If im right in thinking it wont make a noise as its a enclosed filter.
  13. #13
the breather cone with the larger end replaces the breather hose the smaller one on the crank case... you should have a bmc enclosed filter with 2 ducting hoses... 2 small breather cones... and the bits to attach them with all in the box.......

What strut brace is that mate, did u spray it yourself?
  17. #17
in the kit i bought i got the big BMC black thing (the filter) a ducting hose to draw the cold air in. And a little crank case breather, and thats all.
  18. #18
yeh, thats all I got, plus all the fixings and mounting brackets.
  19. #19
it should make lots of noise when u put ur foot down. when idling u shouldnt hear it.

r u still having problems with it mate?
  20. #20
its the sparco 1 think yeah i spryaed it my self it was red and was a bit rusty not the best spray job think im gonna get it chromed when i get chance
  21. #21
i think its the sparco not i think i sprayed it lol
  22. #22
i think i seem to have managed to get it fitted and it stays where i put it now, but still no noise
  23. #23
    mines not overly loud.
Can hear it burbling away at higher revs, but not on idle.
  24. #24
mines loudish when i put my foot down but its an enclosed filter so wont b as loud as a k&n or pipercross
  25. #25
mines is quite loud when u floor it. i only got the standard exhaust on at the mo. ive got a rattle comin from sumwhere on it think it might be the front pipe against the radiator. Need to investigate.

Do u feel a difference with it fitted mate?
  26. #26
i feel a slight difference, nothing major though, but its better than having standard filter

Also, know any good ideas on where to fit the air feed pipe?
  27. #27
i just put mine 2 the steandard air feed see the pic at the top

    noticed a little differance 2
  28. #28
i put mines down to a hole at the right hand side of the radiator.

you can see it divin away down to the bottom, i find it works there.
