Wiring WATER TEMP Gauge? Quick Question

   My water temp gauge came with a brass thingy which looks like a sensor. Where do i put this and what do i have to do to make the sensor read? I have wired it to earth and live and lights curcuit and it comes on and powers all ok but does not read. Please let me know asap

   the brass part is the sender needs to be
   in the water to work you can buy the
   pipe with the boss off ebay or from
   deamon tweeks think around £15

   If you go with the pipe you need to earth the pipe out for the sender to work
