vts conversion in 1.4 furio

  1. #1
In the middle of vts engine conversion and vts round multiplug wont connect to furio multiplug, its too small plus wires different order.
So i had a thought that maybe i could use a vtr one plug ecu loom because they have the same multiplug ends and just connect my vts ecu? will this work??

    cheers in advance

no but you can chop off the vtr multiplug and wire the end of the vts loom into that using wiring diagrams for both, then plug it straight into your furio.
  3. #3
    why no though??
  4. #4
because the vtr loom wont fit a vts engine.

it might be easier to get a vts loom mate rather than trying to match up the wires as its a real ballache

Yup that's exactly what I did, after I gave up halfway through rewiring both plugs together and lost my rag and ripped the loom out

should be able to pick up a loom for less than £50 from the scrap yard mate. just check it before you fit it to make sure all the connectors are there and all the wires are in good condition

yeh i have a vts engine loom but it wont connect to furio loom at the multiplugs as the vts multiplug is to small. i dont see why a vtr loom with vts ecu on end wont fit as it has the same sensor connectors??

where are you trying to make the connection?
  10. #10
near the battery. the big round multiplug, the vts multiplug was small and has 21 wires wereas the round plug its connecting to (technically dash loom) has 18 wires and is bigger.

Sounds like you're trying to connect a mk1 vts loom to a mk2 furio car loom multiplug. I think you could get an early mk2 single plug vts loom and it should plug right in (I had the opposite problem to you - early mk2 vts loom wouldn't plug into mk1 vtr car loom as the plug was too big), or as I said you can chop both sets of wires together, it's not that hard with diagrams and both sets of wires have numbers on them which match up.

    ^^ well figured out Sean.

where did you get the loom from? could you take it back?

ah but thats the thing the vts wires dont have numbers on them there just coloured greens pinks blues and whites?? will i be able to get some info from citroen about what pin on the furio multiplug goes were, because i already no what wire goes were on the vts loom just not the furio loom??

the wires will have numbers on them but the numbers will be under the rubber bit on the multiplug. you have to cut through the rubber bit without cutting the wires. Citroen may print you off the wiring diagrams but I wouldn't hold your breath, Haynes manual has some diagrams, or try to find a copy of autodata (there's a thread in here somewhere, search for 'wiring diagrams')

loom came with engine from a1 citroen who by the way are a bunch of dicks!

if the loom is intact you could try selling it and finding a mk2 vts loom which 'should' plug straight in.

its not really because ive done what you have said and cut away plastic bit to find numbers but there really arent any. a1 citroen are really to blame as the said it was a mk2 vts loom but they will send another but they dont end up even sending things till a week later! and cant really wait. i really thought a vtr loom would work as it means i could plug my ecu into it and it has the right connector
