are you wanting to change the gear knob??? as in put a different handle and material on it? coz i was told to get the gear knob off, put it into 4th gear and then just pull, you will hear a pop noise as it comes off. but for the hand brake you will need to use a hacksaw to cut off the handle thats on it at the moment

You can get the gearknob off without a hacksaw !
just stick it in 4th, put one foot either side & give it a damn hard pull. But - as has been said many a time before - watch you don't stick your hand through the sunroof or punch yourself in the face when it comes free !!!

You'll have to cut the handbrake rubber off though, stanley knife should do it.

If you can get your hands on a Max Power/Haynes Mod Guide it covers most things like this and comes in very handy.

rite, i tuk ure advice for the gearknob, ive hacked off all of the rubbery outside and now left with the metal gear stick, but on top of that is a big piece of hard black plastic about 2-3inches long. do i need to cut this off completely too, any help appreciated thanks

has any one tried this with the gearknog in 4th as it sounds better than hacking away i have a 1.1 and am looking 2change the gear knob

Dont be to eager to reach for the hacksaw lol , i've done like Al said, stuck it in forth and gave it a gd old pull until it came off in my hands, you need to keep the white bit on top of the gear stick as this is what holds the old and the new gear knob in place so they dont come off in your hands evrytime you change gear,

tho you will have to use a stanley knife to remove the handrake cover

im sure that is the actual push button that releases the hand brake??? like has been said, dont be an eager beaver and grab the hacksaw, isnt always the right answer

i think 2moz i shall try the gearknob i fourth thing as i want a new gearstick lol will any gearknog fit on then after i take it off??

pretty much yes, as they come with little adaptors that you just fit inside the gearknob until you get the right one that fits the gear shaft. And then some have little grub screws that you do up on the side aswell.
