laquer on base coat on alloys??

    I am in the process of sprayin my alloys, i have sanded, primed and colour coated them

    do i need to 1200 wet and dry to colour coat before i apply the laquer?

    if i do, then wouldnt that destoy the look of the paint?

    what have you used to paint the rims? cans? sprayer?

    whats the paint job like so far? if the job is good and all smooth with no bits in then id give it a rub with a tac rag and get some laquer on but start with a very thin coat

    once i had primed it , i thought i was using 1200 grit, but i was actually using p800, and its made it a little scored, but i tryed to fix it with some 1200, and it isnt looking bad

    i used halfords can of spray, i've not bothered fillering the curb marks, i jus wanted them done nice and quick

    i've done 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint, im about to do thee third of paint now

    on the back of the halfords laquer can it says to use wet and dry 1200 on the 'base coat' until it is a matt affect, does that mean the primer or the paint dya know?

    i didnt rub mine down an they came out like this but go slowly with the laquer

    those look mint

    the guy who i bought my car off, he must have been aiming for the curb! they are all scratched

    i didnt bother with filler, i thought the coats of primer and paint would be enough to fill it, but it hasnt i'll filler it next time

    my rims are almost the same as yuors btw, im doin them in grey/silver tho, i was afta dark grey, but thats how they have came out

    get some heat on them heat apply laquer, worked wonders when i sprayed my xr2i kit

    these have been stripped right back to the alloy u wouldnt belive how many coats of old paint was on them then 4 coats of primer 5 coats of white an 5 coats of laquer to do 4 wheels i used 2 tins of primer 4 tins of white 2 tins of laquer total cost of paint 22 quid and cost me 40 quid to have the wheels stripped an sanded so im well happy

    so primer, paint and laquer mate, the laquer is the last thing you do

    andywiddss1, did u sand blast them or use a drill or something, i just used sand paper and man power lol, took me ages to do just this one, i sanded them to the original primer

    took them to a place that does powder coating an he dipped the wheels in paint stripper it cost me 10 quid a wheel went back 2 days latter an they was done rubbing with sand paper drill ect very hard work when there was about 50 coats of old paint ha ha put sum pics up of the wheels u do mate

    ok i will do

    im buying some filler tomoro, so i'll do the rest with filler

    i've jus finished its 4th coat in paint, and i think they look fine now, so im goin to wait til the morning and laquer it their not as dark as i wanted but im sure they'l do

    u have to remember that when ur spraying them u are very close to them an car see every mark or fault when there on the car u carnt see the small faults mate im sure they will be fine

    i thought that aswel

    i've only done them so they look half decent for ace cafe in 14 days lol

    i've gota do my grill, and headlights aswel before then, i was going to colour code my car aswel, but after doing this, i really cba lol
