Gearbox help!!

   I have a 2000 vtr.
   
   I have a stupendous amount of play in the gearstick and if i change gear at high revs from 1st to 2nd it crunches. Any ideas wot the problem(s) is/are??
   
   I do know it might be the gear linkages but i am concerned that it might be something else or both. Is there a bearing or bush around a shaft connecting to the gearbox that could have gone??
   
   Also wot is a thrust bearing??

   linkages is possible, there is also a large circular rubber-ball shaped part of the linkage that can wear and cause what you mention. If you can get under the car to look at it you should be able to see it.

   thrust brg is the part that allows you to compress the clutch whilst eng is running
