diesel mods???

  1. #1
im thinking of getting a 306 D turbo as a 2nd car for better fuel etc but i was wondering what mods that can increase bhp a bigger turbo would be a start i think but i dont no what else you can do to diesels?? any suggestions

d turbo's are probly one of the easeist cars to increase performance on.
ITs just a matter of increasing the fuel pump to max setting and increasing the boost to about 20psi. it will smoke abit with the pump turned full up but you should be in the region of 115-120 bhp and a fait chunk of torque along with it.

bigger turbo would be last on your list mate. when your increasing the boost an intercooler is a very good idea as the inlet tempertures rocket right up without one
  4. #4
so you want to save fuel... but want more power on it - thus using more fuel.

    makes sense.

306 dTurbo is pretty quick car. You shouldnt need to mod it much at all.
  6. #6
yes ano it will use more fuel than standard but i drive to heavy footed in my sax and guzzle fuel.. correct me if im wrong but are they 90bhp??
  7. #7
i believe they are 90bhp yes. A decent intercooler and a remap with increased fuelling to match would increase power a fair chunk i believe

right ok then well i dont no which to get no a 1.9 D turbo or a 2.0 hdi turbo which is newer also which has more potential and i no this is the wrong forum but i thought it maybe worth a try

the hdi model is the newest mate. if i was going for one it would be the hdi in that sky blue colour they come in
  10. #10
Agreed, also better mileage on them i believe being more modern.

Pick them up for next to nothing really.

get one of these in this colour, looks well smart on GTi6 alloys.
    with lower mileage obviously.

The 306 TDI's are just as quick as VTR's!

cant compare.. diesels power is lower down... power band of the vtr is higher up probly VTR is quicker once it gets going

bit out of my mileage rang rich haha... do dump valves help preformance wise?? and is it easy to make a diesel sound different as most sound like tanks lol thats what puts me off about them
  16. #16
no you cant make em sound different otherwise car manufacturers would have done it by now.

dump valve wont do any thing unless your running a really big turbo.

a standard vtr would completely smoke a standard d turbo/hdi. they are miles faster.
Even when tuned the d turbos JUST outrun a vtr on a long run.
At the minute i drive a diesel (1.4hdi) and tbh it feels loads faster than my standard vtr but the vtr is way faster.

i know someone who has a 306hdi and a vtr and he says the hdi is quicker

Not the case mate! The diesels have so much more torque.

I raced one off the lights up a dual carriage way and he beat me in first and second, but then past 60 i started to gain ground on him. And mines got a 4-2-1 decat with a full ashley system and induction kit.

    It was close...

well mate i raced the vtr that i now own ,when my cousin had it and i was in a 206 sw. 2.0 hdi xsi. the vtr smoked it everytime.
I Do admit that the sw weighs more than a normal 206 but theres not alot in it between that and a 306.
the saxo had 95k and a pipercross cone filter
    the 206 sw had 18k
You must have raced a tuned derv cause they are sharp enough when they have be fiddled.

Well thats what i was saying mate, it just feels that much quicker but in all honesty its really not. My remapped 14 hdi really feels alot quicker than the saxo. my mate even says the saxo pulls away from him alot more than the derv.

is the HDI your talking about 1.4, DT turbos and the HDI's hes thinking of are 1.9
  23. #23
theres not much between mine and a 2.0. mines remmaped to 'around the 100 mark as i was told ' hasnt been confirmed tho, but i think its only about 90.
My is slightly quckier than a standard 2.0 hdi 306, but not by much
  24. #24
well i dont have a vtr in the 1st place so i dont care if it rapes a vtr or not lol and i want the 2.0hdi not a 1.4 206 lol
  25. #25
    i wasnt talking to you!

    oooh sorry
