#2Lambda sensor,or what ever its called, this maybe a good starting place to check!
-
#3and how much is a replacement part??? im getting rid of my cat soon so the lambda sensor isnt really neccessary??
-
#4To be honest i really couldn't tell you how much a replacement is, but even when you get rid of your cat, the lambda sensor will still be there is it feeds into the ecu. I think, not 100% sure the sensor on your car is on the manifold anyway. What manifold have you got, is it standard?

#6all i can get out of my 1.1 is 250miles out of a tankl that costs 40pounds which lasts me a week
.i think ive got blowing exhaust, shit filter and weight of subs.also the decat.whats a lambda sensor lol. u checked for blows in the exhaust m8

#7a lambda sensor sits in the exhaust before the catalytic convertor, it measures the amount of gasses doing through the exhaust and the ECU changes this mixture accordingly. if there is a problem with this sensor it wont be giving the correct instructions to the ECU and could be putting to much fuel or air through, this would use more petrol. or if there is a blow in the exhaust before the catalytic convertor this would have the same effect. the lambda sensor is a small metal probe that sticks out the exhaust and has a wire going from it. you should be able to see it.
they ar not expensive, only About £20-£30 but just changing this small cheap bit of the exhaust could save you a lot of petrol, get a lambda sensor specific to your car, not a universal one because the universal ones dont work as well. they are not hard to fit so you should be able to fit it youself if you feel up to it. make sure you put WD40 or such like on the old one though because it may be hard to come out. good luck mate and i hope this helps.

#8Sorry didn't read the post properly, yer.. check the exhaust for blowing or leaks, if you find any small one's putty them up. Apart from that check the lambda sensor, it reads the oxygen amt in the emisions and sends a signal back to the ecu. In other words if the lambda sensor aint working the car is running to rich, hence the amount of fuel you are burning. I think thats the right way around. There are quite a few posts on sax-p about this give it a search. Hope this helps!!

#9ive just learned somthing :>

#10lol...thanks for the help guys...i will defo change it...can do it any harm anyways.....
-
#11induction should not affect it that much, a hole in the downpipe or worn lambda sensor
my bros 1.4 was doing this after he fitted a PiperX open filter to it
car ran rich for about a week 20mpg and returns 40-40 mpg which is really confusing
dunno whether an ECU adjusts itself or learns?

#12i also get 40 mile to a tenner
Maybe it's my induction
-
#14id still try the lambda and check the exhaust out mate
-
#15i was geting 60 miles to a tenner at one point i was geting 30 to a tenner and this is on a 1.1 i replaced the lambda didnt do nout in the end i replaced the hole tb and it fixed it so could be one of the sensors in there ie the icv ats or the tps

#16im having the same problem in my 1.1

pipercross nd peco exhaust
bout 35 miles to a tenner

#18jesus thats bad, i get that milage an i got a cammed vts with an s1 box lol
