Is smooth and subtle the way forward??

Im in the decisions stages on my car and cant decide whether to go smoked or euro with everything smoothed.........

Currently driving icelandic grey vtr with powerflow exhaust system, small oval pipe and lowered 50mm all round with smoked front headlights.

Looking for new alloys so need to make the decision now.

Also, a quick question regarding smoothing.....

I want to smooth all the original bodywork in, is it something i can do myslef having not done it before? What materials are needed?
Any help regarding the smoothing aspect would be rly helpful as im quite keen to learn and work on the car myself so i can be sure i get the look i want.

    Comments please guys.

You can do the smoothing yourself, but i'd suggest get it done properly if you want a real Euro car.... Euro is expensive to do so you need to bear everything in mind.

whats the most expensive part of the euro look then?
to be honest its thye expense that attracts me jus cos i want a quality look and finish with quality parts and the more expensive it is, the less likely other ppl in my area are gonna have the same thing.

Whats the most difficult part of the smoothing then?
    Is it the finishing touches?

Im doing my VTR Euro, looks to good not too! Just working on a smooth boot with one of my mates to start, as iv not seen many with flush boots, smoothing the front and rear bumper off and getting my grill made up by another mate that does fabricating, its going to look the same as the grill in my bumper. Wheels are going to be as deep as i can get! i think thats all you have to do to euro it? isnt it?

Smooth is the way forward, really looking forward to getting a smoothed bootlid on mine, makes all the difference, haven't decided whether it looks better without door bump strips yet though.

there is a lot to do to properly pull of the euro look.

    everything is expensive.

wheels are probably the single most expensive item. i would budget at least £1k

then there's the interior. a full retrim around £600. all the other bits to finish it off at least another couple of hundred.

suspension will also be quite expensive. you really need coilovers to get really low. basically you cant go too low on a euro car.

then body work will also be expensive. its not all about smoothing all the body lines. tbh i think it looks rubbish with everything smoothed. you need to be selective in your styling. try and clean the lines up slightly by subtle changes. the basics being de-locking, de-wipering and de-badging.

there are a few good euro saxo's about.

have a search for 'chandler' his brown saxo is probably the best example of a euro saxo. i went down the euro look with my old vtr also, but i never completely finished it before i sold it.

there's a lot to consider and think about.

also with regards to smoothing yourself. i wouldnt if you havent done it before. certainly on a car that you are hoping to turn into a show car. it will crack as you dont have any experience which will cost more in the long run to get repaired. by all means practice on something small. e.g. wing mirrors. they can easily be removed and re-painted if it cracks. you will only learn by practicing.

low as in 80mm+ more? not very practical.you gotta plan what your area etc, speed hump locations etc.chandlers is100mm dropped! wouldnt see it going into a retial park tbh mate

Thanks for the link too. had trouble finding someones thread earlier today when another member told me to look and when i asked where, they simply told me to look myself even though they had been here ages.
