osf front wheel bearings keeps going

  1. #1
    hi guys

i have 1.4 T reg 1999 west coast. i changed both the front driveshafts on it about 4 weeks ago, a week later the wheel bearing went so i changed it, check it yesterday and it had loads of play in it again so i went back to centrals (who supplied me the part) with the driveshaft and got them to check it was the right 1 and they said yes it was but they are only reconned so they give me another driveshaft, put the wheel bearing and driveshaft in torque everything up to the correct torque, no play. Ive driven about 10 miles checked the wheel for play this morning and its got loads aplay again.

What could be causing this problem?
    cheers

has the split pin been put back
  3. #3
    what split pins that
  4. #4
if the nut hasnt got a split pin to lock the nut off, then there should be a groove on each side of the drive shaft so the top of the nut can be kinked in to to grooves to lock off

yea ive kinked the nut, its like there is 2 much stress on the wheel bearing because for a wheel 2 go in 10 miles is rediculos

it the nut is at the right torque setting then there shouldnt be any stress, if the nut is too tight then the bearing will be under stress from the onset, as you use the car, heat will be genarated makeing the bearing exspand making the bearing even tighter, when the bearing cools the bearing may not contract back to its arigenal size (leaving the bearing slightly over sized)
other than that you have the wrong size bearing fitted
