standard airbox

been searching on here to see if anyone else has drilled holes in their standard airbox. planning on getting an induction kit soon but in the meantime i've drilled some holes in my airbox on my brothers advice. sounds a bit louder but only from the inside. anyone else done this mod?

NO... your filter will clog twice as quickly as it will be sucking up shit from underneath the car, not to mention water if its wet. A performance panel filter in a standard airbox is possibly better than any induction kit

oh right fair enough. will keep my eye on it and if it gets too clogged up i will get a new from the scrapyard. seems to be a pretty popular mod on the tt-forum.

Depends how much you've drilled it/ how big the holes are etc... I wouldn't say it was worth the effort personally

mmmm probably about 8-10 13mm holes

I've removed the cold air feed to the airbox. gives a nicer sound and felt a little more responsive in the very cold weather

Just read that sentence back to yourself and evaluate what you have just said, bearing in mind cold air is more dense therefore burns better giving increased performance. They don't put that hose there because it looks pretty its to prevent hot air from the engine bay being sucked into the intake

I was desperate for more noise, not because I was that concerned about performance with my car being a 1.1

I meant the comment about it being more responsive, even in cold weather lol

I did that on my vts before fitting my own ducting. Absolutely killed throttle response and performance. Now ive got some ducting its much better than standard, i also fitted a KnN panel filter, its probly better than an induction kit, especially with how much it cost.
