just wondering as Citroen dont make a gasket for the VTS rocker covers i was thinking would the C2 VTS rocker cover gasket fit? coz surely if the rocker covers themselfs fit stright on then so should the gasket??

Am i tlking aload of B*****Ks or will it work lol

what about contacting Peugeot about a 106gti rocker cover gasket?
  4. #4
so they make a 106GTI rocker cover gasket

    but not a citroen??
  5. #5
Nah pug don't make one ethier....
  6. #6
Will this work then or would you need the C2 Rocker cover 2?
  7. #7
so how can you replace the gasket if they dont make 1? whats the logic in that?
  8. #8
there is logic, they make you buy the whole rocker covers wich costs 5x more.
  9. #9
well most ppl use a gasket silcone to seal the gap! but yes it is a bloody stupid idea tbh. thats why im trying to find out if the C2 one fits!

Coz in the logic if the C2 rocker cover fits on a saxo VTS engine then shouldn't the rocker cover gasket from the C2 fit on a saxo VTS rocker cover????

The best method when refitting (and itll only cost about a tenner) is to get the base of the cam covers skimmed so that the raised 'lugs' are then flat and you have a clean surface. Then a very small amount of gasket sealent is all thats needed and you wont have any problems

The 'lugs' are only there to ensure that overtightening of the original gasket doesnt occur which would perhaps cause a split in it under the pressure of the bolts if they are too tight- refer to haynes manual for correct torque

Clearance for the camshafts is no issue either as they dont actually rise up above the head itself.

but is there any chance of silcone going into the cams? say when you tighten it down and it pushes some of the silcone into the cams? were can you get the rocker cover skimmed?

i can see you you all mean now

    The chance is very small.

I know of some people who have used 3-4 tubes worth of gasket sealant to fill the gap left where the original gasket was and theyve still had problems.

With the cam covers skimmed i literally only used 1/2 a tube maybe less and that did both covers.

Any local engine/engineering place should be able to do it easily. Its just on a belt sander that its done and then any metal particles should be washed/blown out and the covers 100% clean before reapplying them

They only need to take enough off just so the lugs are gone and its a flat surface all the way round.

Im pretty certain itll have absolutely no negative effects on the running of the engine

you know of anyone that has had this done? or are you the first?
  17. #17
Ive had it done and its 100% fine, absolutely no leaks from this area

AlexVTS is going to have his done by the same place that i got mine done, and another lad from here is sending me his to be done aswel if hes not found anywhere local to him yet
  18. #18
how much you havingthis done if sent to you matey?
  19. #19
It cost me £10 to have the covers skimmed.

So £20 should covers skimming and postage recorded delivery back to you.

If theres a few people that would like this doing ill take a trip there to make sure that the £10 is a guaranteed price. Literally only took a few minutes per cover to skim.

With mine i also found out that my back cover has bowed slightly over time so the skimming sorted out that problem too

Can you get also get covers polished?
